  1. You do realise that there are no Hawaiian shirts being offered as prizes?
  2. I think so my friend. The draw will be made in public on the 25th and the drawer of the winning tickets will be from Macmillan SE Wales who are coming up on the day to support us. No skulduggery in this draw!
  3. The list is now updated to show the makes and models of the prizes donated by Debbie Archer of Dixons. A quick trawl on the interwebnet shows that the cheapest these can be bought is around £2500! What an incredibly generous gesture

  5. I hate that modern music malarky.
  6. Didnt you get the slip off the bottom of the V5 before he sent the large part off? You can Tax a car with that.
  7. No worries my friend - in the great scheme of things etc
  8. Courier just arrived and dropped off the parcel that was due today - so, that's good news. But, (and there's always a but eh?), I have now found out what happened today with the parcel that should have been delivered yesterday. As it says on the tracking page it is indeed back at the depot but it isn't due to a breakdown. Oh no - this is due to the fact that the driver accidentally left it there when he left this morning! OK, I wasn't exactly overly impressed but at least I could admire his honesty! And so, he has now promised to deliver it early on Monday which I have agreed to. It will save me a 30 mile round trip and enduring the Friday night traffic.
  9. Wow! I just stumbled upon this and I am humbled by some of the very kind words. Gerry, who knows my friend, we may yet get to have another drink at Memories Bar whilst watching the young ladies saunter past in their skimpy finery!
  10. Warning - long post! My tale of woe began yesterday when I was due to have a delivery from City Link. I had a tracking number and looked it up mid morning to see that it had been put on a delivery van and was on its way. At around 18.00 I decided to check again and this time the status had changed to "back into the system". A quick call to the customer service people revealed that the driver had tried to deliver the parcel but had not got an answer and so had a left a card. When I explained that I had been in al day, no card had been left and no contact made he then looked deeper into the situation (how he did that is anyone's guess) and told me that I was right and that the driver had not left a card as he could not gain access to the building. I explained that i lived in a block of apartments that had security key pad entry but, and here's the thing, they also have a bell to contact the warden / security to gain access. At this he mumbled something completely incoherent and finished by saying the parcel would be with me tomorrow. As I was expecting another parcel from City Link today, I felt it would be prudent to give him my home number and mobile number to enable the driver(s) to contact me should there be a problem. He duly took these down and ended the conversation. Upon awaking today, I decided to re-check with customer services that both parcels were going out and that they had my numbers. this was confirmed and so it was with a smile on my face I sat down to watch Jeremy Kyle safe in the knowledge my goodies were on their way. But, they weren't! I kept a close watch all morning on the status of both my parcels. All was looking good. Both had delivery loading times (different times for each which surprised me given that they were coming to the same address) and were on their way - until 11.00am when yesterdays parcel once again showed as being returned to the depot! Another call ensued. This time it was an equally disinterested "helper" who told me that the parcel was back at the depot. I asked why and she stated "probably" because the van broke down. When I asked could she find out and get back to me she replied that she couldn't as that was not possible. I then asked for the local branch number to speak to them direct. She replied that was not possible. I asked if she could get hold of the driver via any means and guess what? Yep, that wasn't possible either! Her only advice was to allow her to rebook it for a delivery next Monday or to go to the branch and collect it. I explained that if I left and drove the 15 miles to the branch, the chances are I would miss the delivery of the other parcel that was due to arrive. She then advised contacting the sender of the missing parcel to get him to rebook for a Saturday delivery but informed me that it would cost a bit more! What???? You expect me / us to pay extra after you failed to deliver on 2 separate occasions? Cant you just rebook it I asked? Her reply - yes, you know what's coming don't you - that's not possible! And so here I still am still sat here waiting for parcel number 2 to arrive before then making a 30 mile round trip to collect a parcel that was paid for as a next day delivery to be made yesterday. City Link - you suck!
  11. No need for apologies friend. I know where you are coming from and will be as "creative" as I can be on other areas but on my home patch i will be playing with a straight bat
  12. As far as this forum is concerned (and that is only what should concern the mods and members) I will be selling in the members only section and therefore not breaking any rules.
  13. Thank you for the info and help my friend. I am more than happy to stick to the rules and will await a message from someone just to confirm I can go ahead and advertise in the members only section.
  14. I will stick to the original plan (and your suggestion) of members only then.
  15. As I am only offering it to members of a private group then I assume I come under the private raffle rule.
  16. Okey dokey - thanks for the info. Just awaiting the OK from the boss to advertise this properly. As an aside, would I be able to post a link in the normal section (as opposed to members only) to other forums that non members could access to buy tickets?
  17. Does that still apply if I am selling them on behalf of Macmillan?
  18. CJ

    Justice?

Absolute madness! I haven't seen that but surely that should be construed as manslaughter and attract a heavier sentence?
  19. We already have a just giving page set up for the Veilside Burning and you are right, they take 5% of donations and charge the charity £15 per month to be involved. Unfortunately, even though there are charges, it is the easiest way to get the money in and also allows people to see that their money is definitely going where we say it is. In this instance of a raffle, it also allows us to have a fixed list of people who have bought and so the buyers and us have a record which can be referred to.
  20. And in my case, with a Scottish grandmother, I am that extra bit careful
