  1. I think I asked Oilman about this a while back on the forum. Even told him that the same gearbox was used in the Lotus Carlton, Porsche 968 and I believe the skyline R34 uses the getrag V160 as well. It would be interesting to find out the oils that these other manufacturers reccommend and how much they charge for it.
  2. I've heard that flush is likely to do more harm than good due to it removing every bit of oil which will momentarily leave some parts totally unprotected when the engine is first started. Don't know how true this is though, could be an insignificant amount of time that this happens for.
  3. What suspension have you got, looks nicely lowered, just the right amount.

Merckx, did you fit the RLTC yourself, was it particularly difficult. I've asked MattH to reserve me a unit next time he gets them in and plan on doin the install myself. Cheers mate.

    Second hand tyres

I think that info would be useful even when buying new tyres.
  6. This kind of mileage would be considered astronomical for a TVR, you'd need a new engine.
  7. Wow, you got some pics of that, monkey. What profiles are you running on?

    Second hand tyres

2nd hand tyres mostly become available from countries like Germany where the legal limit for tread depth is higher than in the uk. Therefore, even if a tyre becomes illegal in Germany it will still have several thousand miles left before it becomes illegal in the UK. The fact is that on a high performance car like a Supra, a cheapo make is far more dangerous because the actual rubber compound is inferior and therefore not capable of containaing all the power of the Supra, although even branded tyres can struggle with a BPU car.
  9. Buy red. Even though yours is a UK spec car, it was built in japan, the dealer probably meant european built vs japan built.
  10. Yep, 285's on a 10" rim will go on easy. After all, some people have managed to fit 275 onto the standard 9.5 x 17 rim !!

    Second hand tyres

I've just bought some used 18" wheels and the rear tyres on them or worn out and so replacement 275 35 18 would be at least £300. I've asked my local used tyre place to save me some F1 GSD3's or SO2's or pilot sports if and when he gets some in. I'd have used branded tyres over brand new cheapo makes anyday, things like Falken's that are usually bundled with new wheels are absolute shite. That why they bundle them with new wheels, because they are wotrh sod all and maximise profits for the retailer !! As long as you can have a good look at the tyre before it goes on, and they are usually ok about this, then you've got nothing to worry about.

Bloody hell, no wonder the Oxford store relented and gave you the car for £12.50.

    Goodridge Hoses

If they're Goodridge the I'd also be interested, but only under the assumption that you can get them for around £40 (all 4). Cheers mate
  14. I'd also agree with Ibrar's ideal size reccommendations, as these sizes will help with maintaining a suitable rolling circumference. Although 19's wont do much for comfort or handling.

    Carbon Dash

I'd also be interested by the way.
  16. Wow, you're buying all those thing just from 1 months worth of fuel savings, how much mileage do you normally do in 1 month.

They had about 5 white ones in the White Rose Centre on Saturday (13th Mar), but they were up at £25, but you try and pull a CJ on them and make them reduce the price.
  18. If your offsets are 38 and 35 mm then this will undoubtedly have a detrimental effect on the handling. A lot of people in the past have commented on the transformation in handling charateristics after reverting to the stock 17" rims. I think if you stray more than about 5mm from the stock of 50 mm then it will start to make a difference. Your wheels are 15 mm and 12 mm out so this is bound to have an effect. Assuming your bushes and alignment etc are within limits then I bet stock wheels or at least close to stock offsets along with GY F1 GSD3 would make a very noticible improvent. Good luck.
  19. The second cable is for cruise control. LOL, that is so true, for a while I was measuring each pipe and comparing to the pic and listing for each hose, then just started cutting the pipes and the extra lengths to complete the job. At least there's plenty extra included.
  20. I think the only way to fit the throttle cable hose would be to undo the cable at the throttle body. It's quite easy from what I can see, you take the tension out of the cable to remove it by tapping it out sideways those of you who have replaced the brake cable on your bmx's in the past will work it out easily and then just remove anything that is in the way, I think, I couldn't be bothered to do that one though. I carefully gunked my engine bay before removing the old hoses as well.
  21. Hi everyone, just thought I'd post up a few pics of my silicone hose kit from Envy. Some of the old hoses were completely solid, had to completely destroy them to remove, and also got a few grazed and bloody knuckles. The hoses seem to grip onto the pipes quite firmly so hopefully theres no chance of any slipping off while driving. I also reverted to my stock airbox with Blitz LM panel, so I have an Apex'i power cone filter available if anyone's interested.
  22. I'll take a pic of mine and post it up, that'll be the best method i think. Unfortunately you'll have to wait till tommorrow though, sorry.
  23. It's possible that the wheel widths are on the wheel, usually in raised lettering on the rim otherwise it's also possible that it's written on the back of the wheel which would obviously be a pain to check. You may also find the offset of the wheel written next to the widths. The stock rear wheel for example has the following written; 9 1/2 j 17 50 The 50 referring to the offset of 50mm, the offset could have a serious impact on handling as many aftermarket wheels are too far away from this. What brand are the tyres by the way ?
  24. Hi mate, have you seen the instructions on mkiv.com, they're excellent and I used these along with the insructions that came with the controller to install mine, and I had no experience of these things at all. I'll try and paste the link below, hope it works, also, I assume your referring to the Apex'i AVC-R. The link may only go to the main index in which case you'll nedd to select Tech Articles from the list on the left and then scroll down to Section 3 - Bosst Control http://www.mkiv.com/main/index.html As far as capping off is concerned, I used about an inch of the supplied hose and bunged up the end of it with some rubber plugs I happend to have with some super glue to secure. Also, don't forget to disconnect the electrical connection to the original vsv, I did and caused a very strange boost pattern, turbo 2 would slam on instead of bossting up gradually.
  25. Here's the pic, forgot to attatch it to the post last night, hope it's of some help.
