  1. Cheers Ian, will do when I get home from work, is it easy to see ? Cheers:flame Dev
  2. Went out for a blast with a friend this evening just after doing an oil change to silkolene pro s 10w50 and after about 20 minutes the car suddenly has no boost from turbo 2. Feels fine on turbo 1 and pulls fine but as soon as I get to about 0.6 - 0.7 bar the boost suddenly drops to 0.18 bar and wont go past this. If I back off the throttle for a few seconds then it will start boosting again but only upto 0.6 -0.7 bar, and soon as turbo 2 is supposed to come in it drops again I pulled over and had a quick look under the bonnet but it was dark and nothing obvious was wrong. However, when I revved it a little with the bonnet still up I heard a new sound from the area of the turbos. The sound could be described like a piece of tin foil as it blows accross the floor, it is definitely a new sound and happens as the revs are falling back down to idle. No smoke was noticed at all, the avc-r is set at 1.2 bar. Any help and advice would be much appreciated, I'm dreading the possibility of buying new trubo's. Cheers.:flame Dev
  3. I can comfortably get over 300 miles from a full tank of motorway driving at around 80-90 mph, The avc-r would normally be set at 0.85 bar in situation as opposed to 1.2 bar. I thought this was really bad, but that's because my daily driver, a 2.1 TD citroen Xantia can manage over 630 miles !!! on a full tank and this is before the yollow light comes on
  4. I've ordered a drum of Silkolene Pro S 10w50 buI'm sure the price list says it's a 25 ltr drum, not 20 ltr as mentioned in scooter's calculation. can anyone confirm ?

    Rays supra is DEAD

Damn!! Really sorry to hear this. The first thing I noticed after the nice wheels was the fact that it's a UK SPEC which is all the more reason to get it fixed. It definitely looks fixable to me, it could be back on the road within a week of going into a decent bodyshop. I reckon you would lose more if you decided to claim on the insurance as a write off since you probably wouldn't get back the money spent on things like wheels etc. Anyway, hope it all goes well !! Save the UK SPEC !!!
  6. Is that a NO then ? Cheers guys.
  7. Could a higher quality speaker be fitted to the enclosure, what size is the speaker already in there ? Is your's for sale then, Supraguy ? Cheers.
  8. Chris, are you going to let us in on which ones don't squeek !! Cheers mate.
  9. Supraguy, would you sell your rear sub, with the enclosure if it's not connected up anyway. Cheers mate.
  10. Blue pipes ? These sound like upgraded pipes, all the pipes I've ever seen on a standard supra are black. :flame Dev
  11. I think a lot of auto's do this, I remember revving a mondeo auto while in neutral and it also stopped revving beyond about 4 or 5,000 revs, can't remember the exact figure. Don't worry, I don't think it's problem as such !
  12. 8loody hell, that was a quick reply !! Cheers mate !!
  13. Does anyone know if that steering wheel would fit a 94 uk spec which has the original 4 spoke item. And would the air bag and cruise control connect up ok ? Cheers.
  14. I wouldn't bother doing anything as long as it's shell 5w40. I was using Valvoline 5w50 and at the last change thought i'd try millers 10w60 but when the engine is fairly warm they are both similarly runny looking. I would definitely avoid any viscosity improvers, those are for clapped out Cavaliers and suchlike !! The puff of smoke at startup is most likely the famous 'Worn valve stem seals' issue which shouldn't really cause any major concern. Hope this helps:)

    Car Scamming

That's prcisely what I was thinking, it's quite easy to set up a basic bank account. Once you've banked the cheque and the funds clear you just withdraw the cash and close the account, unless you want to keep the account to 5crew them again!!

    Not this again

Have you found a uk spec yet? I may be tempted to part with mine.
  17. How should you use it in cold weather? With the temp on warm? Cheers.

    Clutch’s

That's quite early for a clutch to go but it depends very much on how the previous owner drove it. I got a Chris Wilson clutch which is a modified standard Toyota clutch, which means it's just as light as standard, I also needed a new flywheel at the time. I've coverd about 6k miles since it was fitted, and my car is running at 1.15 bar, although usually I have it set at 0.85 bar, and the clutch is fine, I hope not to have to replace it before selling the car, even if that's in a year or two. Hope this helps!!:flame Dev

    Tyres

I've got the Dunlop sp 9000's all round and have so far covered about 7k miles with them and look like they'll last another couple of thousand at least. Did'nt realise that they were so expensive, mine were already on the car when I bought it in Apr 2003. Anyway, performance wise I have been very happy with them, very good when going for it in the twisties, I've had a couple of occaisions when the back end broke loose on a bend as turbo 2 came online and the breakaway was quite progressive. I think they're OE equipment on a lot of cars at the moment including bmw's, and for some serious pub banter, the same tyres are on the Bugatti Veyron which has been in magazines in the past.
  20. Possibly, if the old oil is in a really bad state, however, you'll just have to accept the the getrag 6sp box is quite clunky by nature so don't expect too much from an oil change>
  21. there will be instuction in the service book which can be viewed on mkiv.com It's very easy, just undo the drain nut under the gearbox to drian out whatever is already in there and replace the nut. Then undo the fill nut and fill it up till it reaches level with the fill hole. (assuming the car is level during the whole process). Job done.

    oil temp

Cheers for that Simon, now my wallet's got another thing to worry about. :)
  23. Zed

    oil temp

Cheers Simon, might look into that, although it was a right pain fitting the adaptor in the original oil filter location so it's not a job i'd look forward to.

    oil temp

I was also wondering about oil being overcooled. I've just fitted a 16 row mocal oil cooler which sits behind the bumper vent on the passenger side. I was thinking, is it possible for the oil to be overcooled during the winter months when there are temps below freezing or is this unlikely to happen as the hot oil is circulating ?

    oil temp

No, the m3 is 340 bhp, even the lightweight csl version is 360 bhp. The current m5 is 400 bhp. They are quick cars, but I've driven a few and you feel quite isolated from everything so it dosent actually feel like your going that fast, it also feels like your really thrashing the engine once you do start using the performance.
