Right. To answer some of your questions. A guy in Ireland is selling an r34 gtr. The seller of the supra has secured the car, but will leave himself flat broke if he doesn't sell it the supra. He actually messaged me before he was sure he was going to sell, and actually took days to even let me know if it was for sale or to give me a price. He said the mileage in Japan is hard to prove, but the mileage in Ireland can he seen on MOT history. Maybe my expectations of the underside are lower than others because I came from a rusty evo, but at 70000 miles the evo was WAY worse than that supra, and 10 years younger, so to me, that looks like a car that has seen far less salt, yes. One more thing that im not relying on but certainly optimistic about after my own research is that the car is being sold on Irish plates and having the Irish logbook put in my name. This means that as the last Irish owner I will be entitled to the import tax that was paid on the supra, at 36%. The rebate won't be the whole amount as far as I can tell, but once officially exported I should be entitled to thousands in rebate. Again, I've never done it, but it seems legit. And to answer your next question, he said he hasn't done it himself and kept the money because he has recently done it on his current r33 gtr that he's selling to fund the 34, and it would look dodgy for a student (I'm guessing older student), to start shipping out cars and making large tax claims. -

Yeah, my plane lands at 7.50am though lol. He's meeting me at the airport with the car. Got a ferry booked home at 15.00 so I can take the car if it all checks out. Feel free to come share your opinion on the car. My mate has got a supra, so I have an idea what condition I should expect -

He gave me a video tour on FaceTime and went over the car. Generally it looks very good. Clean under the bonnet as far as I could tell. Interior has a few extra gauges on the left hand side of the 'cockpit', for lack of a better word. A load of the trim was painted red by the previous owner, so the current owner carbon wrapped it. Again, it looked ok as far as I could tell, but I can't say for sure until i see first hand. Aftermarket speedo digital Speedo on it. Actually just found a couple of pics of the interior and bonnet -

Yeah I know what you're saying about the price. I was looking years ago and was told a 6 speed was around 13k.... but I was recently told that importing an almost stock 6 speed would cost me a minimum of 23k but would have well over 100k on the clock, and that was a respected importer. This one has nearer to 40k on the clock -

I certainly haven't made up my mind, and am flying to Ireland to look over the car, not buying unseen. Yeah I've read that buying guide, and will be doing all the checks it recommends. I did look at the car you shared, and it does look quite good. I just thought that a nice low miles factory 6 speed would be money well spent - - - Updated - - - Hrm. Yeah, I see what youre getting at -

It's closer to 23k on the road. He just took a wire brush to some of the areas in the pics and sent me this. Said it cleaned up no worries, there a definitely no rot -

Can't get hold of the previous owner as he lives in Canada and his mother handled the sale. The guy says he's spoken to the supra specialist who told him to buy the supra, and that rust will brush off no worries. The mileage has definitely not been fiddled apparently. -

It's a little less than 25k. Closer to 23 on the road. Am i right in thinking that the mileage isn't stored actually on the gauge cluster, so I can trust what the mileage says As that's still oem. No he's not a friend -

One guy owned it for years and then moved to Canada leaving it behind. His mother handled the sale with the guy who I'm buying it off of. It's in Ireland so hasn't seen salty roads. The guy im buying it off seems totally upfront about everything. Carbon wrapped dash that's not perfect. Aftermarket gauge cluster that don't have mph. Exhaust, filter, bov, few more gauges. The guy is only selling it to buy am r34 he's seen in Ireland. Their import tax is 36%, so he needed to secure it fast which is why he's selling the supra. I'll post a couple of pics -

No, these are what he sent me today when he had it on a ramp. It's a factory 6 speed TT with 63500kms, basic mods, nothing fancy, I'm paying the best part of 25k. Money well spent? -

Hi all. As the title says, I'm picking up a supra next weekend. He's sent some pics of the underside. Is there anything I should be worried about? (Lets see if the pics work haha) -
Nah neither have I. My friend has got a pretty stock tiptronic that I quite like. In a straight line it was very close to my 400hp evo, so I'm hoping that ill get this little beauty going nicely with little effort. I spent a lot of time meddling with the evo, I want to enjoy the supra. For this year at least anyway
-
Well it's certainly not cheap as such, but I don't think I'll be overpaying either. A solid investment hopefully. He said he'll put the Irish v5 in my name with my UK address, and then I will be entitled to the VRT. Said he doesn't mind leaving himself as the last Irish owner and reclaiming between us, but it will have to be next year due to tax reasons. If i can get my hands on it then I'm laughing

Thanks for the info, that's a great help! Haha you keep away Lol. There's a reason I haven't made a thread about the car. I'm keeping my cards close to my chest! It's not advertised anywhere, friend of a friend kinda thing. Well happy with it though. Well I'm sure I will be when I actually see it in the flesh anyway!

Yeah I know it's not the full amount, but should be a good few grand. it doesn't say anywhere that it has to be a resident of Ireland. It says the car must be registered in the state, but also says they'd need proof of export. One thing it does say is the person who takes it for the inspection before exporting is the person who will be paid, so the inspection needs to he done when I'm there. They clearly deliberately make it hard lol

Hi everyone. Looks like ive found a 6 speed [GRIN][/GRIN]. it's in Ireland, looks very clean, is very low miles, and is pretty much stock. I'm happy with the price but the owner also mentioned I should be able to claim back the VRT that was paid when it was imported in. Ive checked on their website and it all seems true, I'm just a little unsure about whether it should be registered here, there, when to get the inspection etc. If anyone has any experience, I'll happily take some advice Thanks

Awesome, I should be all good then. Now just need to wait until tomorrow when the guy tells me if the supra is for sale or not. He wants to keep it but has got his eye on an R34 GTR so might need the money. I'm praying!
