Definitely, my idea was initially just to collect a few recent differing opinions from people who have owned both, I know from this that I'd most likely be happy in both now! I'm definitely not going to track the car so that's no problem, I'd use another car if I wanted to go track; however I might hit the RWYB at Santa Pod now and then so I now know an Auto is just as good for that, and know that I could potentially run Manu Mode the majority of the time if I feel I want more control over the car. You're a knowledgeable bunch! Hopefully I'll find a local (ish) kind person who wouldn't mind an excuse to take their Supra for a spin one weekend with me as passenger

Rider was also kind enough to show me around his Supra while it was up on the ramp today, could eat your dinner off the bottom of his car currently haha, very clean. Appreciate the amount of info and things to look out for that I picked up from him today, grateful for the info from the rest of you as well, testament to how good the group is here compared to a lot of forums out there.

I'll hope for the chance sometime soon. If nothing comes about chance wise I'll be a little bolder and create a thread asking, or attend a show people are going to! Ultimately, as stated before, the outcome of what I go for is going to be dictated by what's available at what price, and if I can't stretch my budget to buy a very clean manual, I will happily go for a very clean auto. I think for my budget one will come up at some point, not many are actually selling over the 22-24K mark by what I can see (although they may be technically worth it down to people's or the markets valuation), so it may just be a case of being very patient!

Never been in one, only around them at shows. I enjoy the fact it cruises so well, but the power and grip is there when I do fancy playing. I used to drive it harder more often, but I'm definitely becoming more towards the side of the appreciation of a car and how well it's built and looked after, than just how fast it is. I think I enjoy the feel of the road in that the most though

Definitely wanted the manual, think I'd still prefer it, but unsure it's worth circa 8K more to me as my first Supra... The temptation now is that I can get an Auto Supra and also keep my GT4, or even sell the GT4 and use the rest of the Supra money towards an MR2 MK2 Track car I'm never going to decide at this rate haha

He offered that I could go and take a look at it up on the ramp so that he could show me all of the things to look out for when buying one, which would have been perfect; unfortunately I was at work all day Friday and ended up being called out again all day today, and I believe he was finishing the work and bringing it down during today. Hopefully he wouldn't mind me being a passenger one weekend! I'm in contact with him anyway fortunately. Don't suppose anyone has an Auto close? If not I'm a willing traveller, gives me a chance to roadtrip my ST205 haha

Really appreciate all of this info so far guys, making a lot of sense to me so far, and is helping break my decision down into manageable information. I definitely think I need to try driving or at least being in both whilst they're driven. I've plenty of time until I want to buy (likely to be January onwards unless I find something perfect for me sooner). If anyone is near to Shropshire and wouldn't mind taking me out in theirs 1 weekend at their preference, I'd be very grateful!

Really starting to get the idea that the only drawback of the auto is the control when driving more enthusiastically then. Definitely something that would take some getting used to no doubt, but in all honesty I rarely flat the GT4 for long as it's become more of a weekend crusier
-
Well mate, if I pick up an auto, please reserve one of those kits for me once they're ready! I'll have plenty of budget left to play with haha
-
That right there, is the exact thread that has opened the temptation to me! Still open to what everyone has to say about these. Would you guys who have commented go for the normal auto or the triptronic? I think I'm about 75% manual, 25% Auto now haha
-
Exactly my one trail of thought! To keep my GT4 would be the icing plus gives me a fair few thousand left over to play around with upgrades etc, or save

Hi guys... I have dug through the forums for the past few hours looking for info on what I'm asking, I have a different target audience for the question though. I fully know this will bring some die hards here... Now what I'm asking is for the opinion of people who have owned both an Auto and a Manual TT Supra. I'm not asking for fire and thunder verses, just a simple message about what your opinions of both are, and what you genuinely consider the best and worst point of each. What drawbacks do you feel hinder the autos also? Are we of the opinion that Autos will hold their value as well as the Manuals? I have always driven manual cars, also 2 Toyota's being an MR2 MK2 Rev2 and an ST205 GT4, I'm familiar with what you get out of manuals. I have no experience with Autos, at all. I'm still 95% set on a manual. However, I've just seen a flappy paddle conversion for the auto and to say that's peaked an interest is an understatement. Is the manual really worth those few thousands more? I'd imagine so, but im asking anyway as a first time Supra buyer. Cheers!

wanted Supra MKIV, Budget of 25K, Manual or Auto TT

I'm genuinely willing to travel the length of the country for the right one, I've no problem with that fortunately. I was going to look into keeping my ST205 GT4, but I'm now leaning towards selling it as I've not the space for 2 cars and a work van currently. Plus it would free up some more money. -

Really hoping so, keeping my eyes open and will view a few no doubt to see what's around at different prices. I've been offered to look at a couple already, 1 within my budget and 1 over my budget, both genuinely interesting cars and builds that have clearly had a lot of time, care and money put into them. I'm in no rush to buy fortunately as I'm content with my GT4, and was planning on buying from January onwards anyway, I'm happy biding my time to find what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the info and points of view, you've all been helpful so far. -

I'm not after something anywhere near that stock and immaculate, as stated already, my budget won't stretch that far haha -

Hi mate, Thanks for the info; ultimately I'm looking for a nice example manual and turbo model that would need as little work as possible. Now I'm happy with general wear and tear work, I just don't want anything ominous, major, or heavy on the pocket within the first year if it can be helped. I know they're 20 year old cars and it comes with the territory that anything can happen at any moment, but I'm also aware from owning a GT4 that a lot of the genuine examples being sold currently are from long standing genuine enthusiasts that aren't selling simply to shift a problem to someone else's pocket; I guess that is the sort of seller I was hoping for. Performance wise I'm very open to what's about. I really don't mind if it's low BHP and I can sort the stage 1 modifications to it, or if it's already tuned. I just want one that I can work on and learn from with the knowledge that it's not going to be a money pit that someone was trying to move on, that I can use as a weekend car to enjoy whilst upgrading to my tastes as I can release more money into it. I really appreciate that, Would you mind dropping me a message with where you are in Shropshire? I believe I could probably get a lot of valued info from you, and perhaps talk about my budget in comparison to what I can expect to get, if of course you wouldn't mind. Thanks, Sam -
When I find one, if it's within range of you so that you're not going out of your way to help me, I'd massively appreciate that. I imagine going through a Supra would be second nature to yourself and others here, whereas I can't say I've ever looked around one other than at Santa Pod etc. If you don't mind I'll definitely be in touch once I do source one I'd like to view, even if you're just available via phone! Thanks for that

Managed to find that yesterday after becoming a paid member, I really should have said! Thank you for linking it though, I now have it downloaded and will get it printed out

Hi guys, I currently own a Celica GT4 ST205, having progressed from an MR2 MK2 Rev3, and feel it's now time that I can free up some funds for a Supra. My budget I'm initially setting myself is the budget DCY Europe advised I would need for a high standard import, which is 25K, however I have a figure within that I'd be happy spending. I'm going to be looking for a Manual, turbo set up, I'm pretty open as to whether it's a single or twins. I'm happy whether it is a previous import or UK spec. EDIT: Genuinely open to whether it is Auto or Manual currently after much consideration, the only thing I'm hoping for is that the car is very well looked after and very clean underneath. I'm also open to what sort of modifications it's running, and what sort of power range. All I'm really basing my search on currently is a well looked after example from a trusted member, that needs no attention mechanically, to bodywork, and ideally paint, although I can be flexible on anything but bodywork if the seller is genuine about what it needs. I intend to keep this vehicle for at least 6 years, so I'm not going to be stripping anything for parts, and within the GT4 community I have a good reputation for my vehicle being very clean and having anything it's needed, so if I purchase one of your well looked after examples I intend to thoroughly maintain and potentially build on it, so it will be in good hands as I learn more and more about the vehicle. Thanks guys, hope you're all well

Everything I've seen that they import looks spot on, obviously the underside would tell another story but they do seem like they're very highly rated for a reason! Is there anything particular I should look out for when buying a Supra? As In I knew to look out for the Superstrut system being worn, and the damp footwells with the GT4. Really hoping if I decide to go with importing they can find me a lot for the money with around 24K potentially going forwards. Have seen some on here sold within the last 4 months that have made me think twice, I'd have bitten people's hands off for what they were asking, especially the Zeus build that was purple for around 17K! Appreciate all the info guys, thanks

Hi guys, I'm currently in early talks with DCY Europe about importing myself a MK4 Manual TT for a budget they have advised. I currently own an ST205 GT4 Celica, and am in 2 minds about selling that right now but that's another story! Anyone had theirs imported via DCY Europe? Or similar? I'd also be very tempted to use my budget on a trusted owners if anyone is currently looking to sell. Hope you're all well
