  1. And there was I thinking " chav " was a kind of dress code, Burberry check with lots of bling etc etc. Ha ha ha, A supra Chav ?, I think not.
  2. Welcome to a great forum. In my opinion, knowing what car you want to end up with is more important than the car you may want to buy now, obviously with a budget in mind, try to get the car that most helps you to your ultimat goal. Conversions of any type can end up costing quite a lot of money. Spending a little more now may save you lots in the future. good luck. Hope you enjoy car and forum.
  3. Car looked ace in the flesh, I'm sure it'll just get better and better..maybe good you're not pushing it that hard at the mo, that crack on rim could be naughty. Lovely car.
  4. Hi thats my car, I have a very good friend in Belton that runs a GTO, I'm over there fairly often. Sorry you missed the meet, next time maybe.
  5. Thanks Jamie, I think either Paul (whiffbitz} or Ryan already done that, although not 100% sure.
  6. Hi, After lots of searching and asking various people, I am trying to find out if the mystical T/C lock up switch actually exists, as I have made no headway whatsoever in finding the answer. As the T/C is a mechanical device, locking down on the gearbox shaft at a certain amount of revolutions depending on its stall speed, I cant see that it's possible to lock it with a solenoid via a switch etc. Yet numerous references are about re this lock-up switch. I have a high stall T/C in my own car and for lots of reasons this switch would be very convienient. Can anyone give me a clear answer as to whether this is a " real " working option or just a nice idea that never has been worked. Many thanks in advance.
  7. Agree with a lot that's been said, but my OP was to find out the thinking of a brand new buyer, not the reason for modding our existing cars, which we have all grown to love. To make it simple, a really nice auto might come up for £5-6k, and quite often the buyer says first job is a 6 speed manual box, well a rough estimate for the work maybe £4k ish, my thought is, surely a stunning manual car can be found for £10k or thereabouts. It is just something I've always wondered but never asked.
  8. I would agree 100%, but if I had set my sights on buying a six speed TT I don't think I would be viewing autos with a g/ box conversion in mind, very different from modding your own pride and joy and the next level project. Quite interesting views.
  9. Oops, sorry.. Didnt mean to put you off. It was just a nightmare to get my tiptronic gearbox rebuilt and uprated, but Paul at whiffbitz eventually got it sorted.
  10. My car was in garage for over six months with broke tip gearbox, depressed wasn't the word, suicidal nearer the truth. Lol maybe we've all been there.
  11. I can understand taking your loved and cherished car to the next level, I do get that bit, I don't understand the buying of a car that needs an immediate £4-5k mod when there are quite a few really tidy cars out there for the same price as what's going to be spent, that's the bit I wonder about when I read these posts.
  12. Just an observation, not a judgement I have read lots of threads where members have bought certain cars and posted about the immediate changes that are about to take place. And good luck to them, but why would you buy an auto and propose to convert it to a six speed manual, maybe spending a further £4-5k, or buying a na and embarking on a twin turbo upgrade at god knows what £'s that comes to. I am sure I will get " put right " but I honestly don't understand it. Why not get the basic model that you DO want and mod up slowly from there. Or am I missing something? (like a brain maybe)
  13. No, not a wireless kit. Small sensor has little 3m sticky pad already attached and there is also a hard loop if bolting or using a self-tapper. Wire about 2mtrs long.
  14. Great, hadn't thought of that, I can run wire through with speaker cable.
  15. Well I've bought a little temp kit, made by " Call+" it's the Yetti model lol. Powered by 1 AAA batt,so no wire in job. It has two small sticky pads to fix somewhere in interior, will get a pic up next time I'm home. £14.99 from motor spares.
  16. Well I'm here, just seen message on forum via I phone. Best I go, sat here like Billy no mates..lol
  17. I thought it might be a small digital type of gauge, maybe just put on with a small strip of velcro, or something similar.
  18. oops, hoping you would tell me, maybe somewhere the wind chill wont effect reading and not to close to a hottish spot...but i do feel i would like one.
  19. Hope this hasn't been covered a million times, I have done searches but cant find answer. After recent dodgy weather (sunshine and feezing temps) I would like to fit an outside temp gauge to car, has anybody already done this and is any bolt on better than another. Any recommendations or experience greatly appreciated...thanks.
