mclarenross replied to mclarenross's topic in Supra Chat
Thanks guys, I am on a budget and I appreciate that I ain't going to get performance parts. Reading a lot of the reviews on this site the bc's seem to get a good a review and yeah I appreciate that I probably want to hear bad reviews of people that have had them and have had issues.... Currently looking at bc or the hsd monos. -
Be or hsd coilovers....? Driftworks sale now on...
mclarenross replied to mclarenross's topic in Supra Chat
Agreed, I know the bc's are mono as well and seem to get in the majority good reviews,(the hsd monos are another £100 on top- although if everyone says there great, then probably worth forking out a little extra) i notice that the bc's come with a spring rate of either 14/8KG/mm or a 14/10KG/mm does anyone have a preference on these? -

are the mono's that much better than the dualtec? -
I've noticed driftworks have a 10% sale of everything at the minute, so you can get bc coilovers for £621 or hsd dualtec for £508, which I think is great value. My question is for people who have got either of these, are the dualtec kit good? Or should I pay the extra £100 for bc's or should I spend a little more and get the hsd mono's? It's for 95% road and 5% track, I would want them setup pretty firm, so I'd like to know how easy people had fitting the. And risking them in, have they later more that 10k miles, what's the ride like, any knocking? Do I look at the pillow ball ones? Or are they just a step to far...? any thought or comments would be appreciated And does anyone else know of a good sale on??

There about £12 each. !! I know, I ended up buying from the states as it was much cheaper. John hodge has loads of my spares, so drop him a msg if you need a few.

Hopefully you’ve enjoyed most of my build so far, it’s been a love / hate relationship so far, but at the moment it’s a love feeling… So those who know me, know that I’ve wanted to have a Supra that drives like a new car, so I’ve been building my collection of suspension bushes to replace the 20 years old ones that are currently on the car. A couple of weeks ago I broke down all the suspension components, sold my Bilstein suspension and pulled the brakes apart. The only major issue was getting the ball joints out of the wheel hubs, but with the benefit of a good hammer blow and a ball joint splitter I got everything of the car. I had started to purchase a number of bushes, but whilst I was looking through ebay I came across a full set of suspension arms and anti roll bars that had recently had the powerflex bushes inserted, all the ball joints refurbished and re-greased. I negotiated a good price and they were delivered later that week. Plus the major bonus that I didn’t need to go through the pain of pushing out the old bushes! really happy when they turned up and started to repaint them with Hammerite (yes I know they will get dirty being white…) Before After I had also been planning on getting a full new set of camber bolts and washers, but after finding that in the UK Toyota wanted nearly £200 for basically 8 bolts I was annoyed and actually found that I could get a full set from the States, delivered for £95 – Mr T you’re a disgrace!) However after taking them out and leaving them soaked in Vinegar for a week I was over moon with the results! I ended up with only having to replace the one rear washer…! Before After I was thinking about replacing the wheel bearings, but I have replaced all the hubs previously with hubs that have done 70K and there is no movement in the bearings. I did decide to refurbish the brake calipers and bought a refurb kit from Chris Wilson who was very helpful also helped me when I realised you need to remove the full metal head from the old slider pins boots (you will know what I mean if you have done this.) apart from that, quite a straight forward job. I followed this guide http://www.imoc.co.uk/forums/kb.php?mode=article&k=190 I always knew my brakes weren’t great as I didn’t stop in a straight line… J and I realised doing this job that several of the cailpers were seized!, so a very worthwhile job if anyone is thinking of doing this. so starting to get excited, new suspension components, new brakes, new tyres, new suspension (shortly) oh and I also replaced all the Steering bushes. Next I got out the wire brush and started to get under the car and attack any rust I could find with the intention that everything underneath will be getting the hammerite treatment, I’ll be starting on the paint this week…. inside the car I’ve bought three new gauges for the glove box, Oil & Water Temp and Oil Pressure, Big thanks to Robby for sorting me out with a sandwich plate and to Matsi for the glove box holder. I’ll need to do the wiring in the next couple of weeks. Next few jobs, Paint the underneath Install suspension components Buy a new manifold Bride Seats & Takata harness. Wheel Reallignment and Map and hopefully I’m nearly there…. nearly…. -
Hey Chris, drop me a pm off what you want for them, before I go with the US Toyota guys. Cheers
-
Thanks I've messaged Inchcape, but I dont think it was their oxford branch, havent heard back from them yet, I think I'm getting a decent deal out of a US dealer at the minute for about £75 delivered. so I'm just witing on them to confirm, or else I'll get in touch with Keron and whifbitz

Thanks guys, so after some research I've found that I need the following part numbers... the first four are the actual bolts and the lower two are the camber washers. I’ve been in touch with Mr T and these are pretty much the standarad price from most of the dealership….. 48190-14040 x 2 £19.04 inc vat each 48190-24020 x2 £11.66 Inc vat each 48190-22021 x2 £12.08 inc vat each 48190-24030 x2 £13.20 inc vat each 48198-50011 X 4 £8.28 (inc Vat each) 48198-24010 x4 £11.21 (inc Vat each) Adds up to about £190 all in, which I think is disgusting for in essence 8 bolts and 8 washers. I can get exactly the same parts in the states for $90 (dollars)! or £60ish, so why is MR T Uk so expensive…. anyone have any friends at Mr T who can get a discount or am I just going to have to try and source these on a cheap courier from the States… It also reminds me of Mr T recently wanting about £12 each for some valve shims…!

Yeah, that from the rear, are the front the same size?
