Ok just got off the phone to Millers technical, they rocommend CRX75/w90NT, this will give 25% less friction. The Toyota oil if a fully synth 75/w90.
-
Ok, is that motorsport oil? Iv got some Toyota oil here, it seams to be a mix of ATF and gear oil, which is typical of most getrag box's. Maybe il contact millers oil and see what they recommend as the Toyota stuff is for road use and proberbly has little to no shock values.
-
Ok, i know most you guys stick to toyota gear oil. But at they end of the day its just a noraml gear oil, nothing special. Any one used any thing else, or recomend any thing else? I was thinking Millers 75/w140 motorsport oil or simler. Its for pure track use, no road miles what so ever.

Mean while!!! The moulds are now set and released from my spare shell!! they just need waxing up and finishing off now, should be only a few weeks now until i have my one piece ends! The moulds are in 4 sections for each end, what you see in these pics all bolts together to make one big mould. Im also upgrading from the R154 to the v160 gearbox, alot of hunting and way too much money handed over, here it is Trial fitted Gear stick falls in exact right place Then the task of planning a prop, not as simple as you may think as i need to incorperate a slip joint as the v160 has a bolted rear output flange unlike most other boxs Oh, and this is what the front end looks like ATM!

Time for and update??? Hell yes!! A bit over due i know, but TBH iv only just really started work on it! Before i go on, id just like to thank some sponsors for there ongoing support and help, with out them, none of this would be possable! Falken tyre Europe EPracing ACT Drifted Pipercross SFS performance Zircotec Hel Rota/Rarerims HPI racing Europe So this is what iv been up to! Turbo came appart for an inspection and to send the exhaust housing off to Zircotec for coating. Its still very clean in there, a testement to the filteration control of Pipercross filters ACT have supplied us with heavy duty single plate clutches, this one is rated to 900ftlb and has my name on it! Due to the back of the car now being chopped off, some controll over the smoke entering the cabin is needed, iv used alloy tape, its very fast, cheap and effective. For box sections, expanding foam was used I then trimmed off more metal and tidied up some of the edges I then set about mounting the rad in the boot Made lots of card board templates

Yes but is that for road, drag, track or what? Appart from drag racing launches at 5Krpm or more, there is not alot wors for a propshaft other than drifting! I.e if you are drifting a corner at 100mph and the car starts to streighten or get grip, you kick the clutch with the throttle wide open to brake the traction again. This kills transmission, hence my upgrade to v160, i smashed 4 R154s last year in only 12 events

Hey guys, I recently done a 6 speed manual conversion on a customers aristo, we're expecting figures of about 600-700hp when complete. When doing the conversion i noticed how skinny the prop is at the slip joint section. This gar is to be used for fast road, so i went ahead with it. Now on my car, il be running in the same HP braket but it will be getting alot more abuse, drifting on 295/30 19" tyres, more than likely clutch kicking in 4th at 60MPH lol. Im very concerned at the diamiter of the stock prop at the slip joint! Do they ever fail?
-
If I knew this lot would have sold this fast I'd have taken it with the box lol
-
Sorted now guys, many thanks
-
What would a clutch pedal, master cylinder be worth? or how much would they sell for? This is a good option for me as i dont need a full conversion, the rest of the bits i need are only £300 from toyota minus the prop. But iv got another option of a full conversion for more.

Back to the top! Getting desperate now! Cash waiting!

I live in Aylesbusy yea, my garage is in westcott and the unit the trailer is in, is in Bicester
-
Then tonight we got the bottom in under coat We have also be protecting bair metal as we go, with under seal
-
Time for another update, iv been away for the last four days so sorry about that lol. Last week we got it inside to keep the water out and let dry out what bits wer damp. Used the V8!! very tight fit with less that 6 inch to spare Cool list of places the trailer has been 1st job was to remove the horrid dated corrigated alloy strip down the side, which was also letting water in the join! And then clean off all the sealant, glues, stickers etc We found a milomiter on one of the wheels, bloody low miles for a trailer!! thats in K's not M's!! Then the tast of rubbing it all down and prep for paint! Lucky i was away for most of this while the others cracked on with it! Then a trial of the paint, we wer going to spray it, but itd be too messy, too expensive so we are rolling it on It helps that Mr Carter is a painter by trade, so it can be done right with out looking crap! Matts 1920s scafolding :wack: Two layers of under coat done! I know your proberbly asking why there is still a hole?!?! well we are waiting for the materials for that section, so just doing what we can with what we have! Then it was to seal up the join that the corigated alloy strip covered, we used normal house soffit board And for all the haters of house hold paint, look at the finish! This is just under coat so a mat finish until we get the gloss on.
-
Cheers buddy but just spoke to Greg and he's tried that I'm just going to get the car done and leave it with him until it's sorted, ever times it's been there it's been till 2-4am rushing about to get it on track. Lol
-
A triple or quad rotor then I know what your saying about low down weight but the box engine is not a light engine is it? Seing as it has two heads, 4 cams, two sets of manifolds etc. I'm really looking forward to seeing these get tuned
-
Yea im not liking the engine choice!!! Its going to be fun thogh, most box engine tuners are 4x4 grip guys, most people who will be tuning these will be drift orentated, who know nothing about box engine tuning, wer going to have to inter mingle lol. I know if i get one, il be using it for less than a few months before i strip it back and build it into an out right competition drift car!! I think a JZ swap would be sacralige with the weight of them, so it may have to be a 4cylinder turbo Nissan swap.

are they zips on the dash? :s

Ok, so me and Matt have been at the trailer again the last few nights!!! Been pussy footing about not wanting to make a hole in the side until we have the bits to patch it up, but in the end, i just told Matt to hit it with the sledge hammer :smash: lol The consiquence.................. In the light today So we set about removing the rest of what we are going to replace and tidy it all up. Here is some of the water/rott we removed and the hole we're now left with :wack: its 11ft x 8ft 2inch, wer off to find some GRP tomorow!
-
Ok, so me and Matt have been doing a few hours in the eves this week................. 1st job was to replace the bust hydraulic hose so we could get the deck moving and make sure it all worked ok, we only had the word of the guy we got it from that it worked. When we went to look at it it was up and loaded, when we went to collect it, it was down and unloaded, and he informed us a hose went while unloading. In the end we replaced the one hose but got 7 spares as the others are bound to go at some point as there all perished!! Was a bit of a tight and a bitch to do but we got there after a few hours and the deck worked perfectly. Pic from standing at the back of the top deck when up, just over 5ft hight clearance. Pic from standing right at the front of the truck with deck up Pic looking under the top deck at the bottom deck. Both decks are exactly 30ft long, so just enough space for 2 s14s Then we set about removing the front top deck above the 5th wheel. pic with it all removed, we done this in the dark with two torches, a petrol disc cutter, in an enclosed space with hydraulic fluid every where! lol Front upper deck, going to be putting it up for sale, if any one may want it, comes with rams, pump, pipes, deck, every thing needed. Then it was to take a look into the damp in the wall around where the door used to be.......... diagnosis....very wet and rotten!! This is what it should look like behind the foam!!!! So basicly we are going to replace the hole side above the 5th wheel on one side, about 12ftx7ft
-
To make the living area, we managed to pic up this crash damaged 2008 caravan for free which wel use most of the parts from to kit it out! Mr Carter hard at work today dismantling it Our cooker, fridge and sink combo Cupboards etc Over the next few months see it take shape, it will also be going in Falken colours and livery

Thoght id bring my other project into this thread as well. Think you guys will like this one too OK, its not a drift car, but its very drift related and its defo a BIG project! Since we have been using the artic to transport the cars, and even before, like every one does, we all wanted an inclosed car transporter! Natrully, youd think they are masive money and way out of reach of normal scum bag drifters haha. But during the summer, we found this baragin!! Ok, from the out side just a normal 15-20 year old artic trailer??? NO!! Not atal, far from it, its an ex race car transporter, not a converted one, as far as we know it was built from new into a race transporter, so no home made, chucked to gether in a barn job!! Ok its not state of the art for these days, its an old girl, which needs some work to bring it back to life..... Yes thats IIRC a super rare 240z race car in the back on the day we went to view it! This is the day we collected it, it hadnt moved in at least 4 years, we wer very serprised the brakes all worked fine and wernt locked on!!! We also found that not long before it came off the road it had 6 new air bags and a full set of 12 tyres, not cheap crap either! The hole trailer is electronic hydraulic, what this means is the tractor unit does not have to have a PTO (power take off for hydraulic pump) the trailer has its own hydralic pumps that work off of the 24v supply from the tractor unit. This is an inside shot, its setup to take 6 cars, 4 saloon sized cars and two smaller car like open wheelers, as the hight is not as big over the 5th wheel. This is the car deck above the 5th wheel, its on its own electronic hydraulic system, one car on top, one car under. Wel be taking this lot out so we can fit 3-4 cars and have a living area. View from the back, the deck you can see here rases, is totally made from alloy and takes two cars. To get the cars into the trailer, it has a nice hefty tail lift, the guy who had it before us said he used it to change a discovery gearbox before, so more than strong enough for some saloon cars. Also means we wont have to remove any bumpers etc to load the cars.
