  1. Mine is this years season ticket for Man U, saved a cool £1200 not including the cost of actually getting there, so i paid my insurance in one go and boought Sky HD!!
  2. We now know the head gasket blowing problem is caused by carbon build up caused by the piston rings....we have done loads of cars out of warranty using a proir authority with Toyota themselves. So as long as the vehicle has a good service history, I wouldn't let this put you off the Avensis. I have just put my dad in a 2007 T180 Avensis Tourer and I wouldn't of suggested this if I didn't trust the car to be ok! It's a cracking car, esp if you get one with the part leather and Sat Nav, and it's no slouch either.!
  3. 4k for a bloody ring??? I hope Frodo gave you a discount....I bloody hate pikeys......

  10. Since putting the head back on, I've had no second turbo, I have a GReddy boost controller fitted (the solinoid vac pipes are currently disconnected) and I'm pretty sure all the pipes and so forth are back together in the order I have removed them.....I have about 0.7 to 0.8 boost on 1st turbo then when the 2nd comes in it drop to 0.1 if that...........I was losing boost from the BOV that turned out to be the fin not centered, corrected this but still no 2nd Tubby.............HELP!!!! Cheers, Chris
  11. It's done.......heaters red hot, no longer spitting coolant like a cheap hooker.....wooohooooooo:)

  13. I'm just at work with the car ramped up.......i have the repair manual telling me I can use 5w 30, 10w 30, 15w 40 or 20W 50................
  14. Just bought a toyota oil filter and I'm gonna change oil, what grade can i use??? I only have excess to 5 30's, 10 40 or 0 20's.......should i just go buy some elsewhere??? Cheers Chris
  15. Yeah, put an new headgasket on and yup the head was flat and held pressure ok...head was heavy as hell but I've dont it at work so the engine life helped
  16. The bach 4 headblots were loose.....physically the headgasket was ok, but you could see water marks where it has seeped, I've had the head tested for flatness and pressure tested too, the head is on the car, just need to spend a couple more hours plumbing. I've also had the rad tested and flushed the matrix....new water pump and stat also are fitted....fingers crossed?
  17. Finally got the head on, just need to plumb in the turbos and fingers crossed she'll start up.....missing her big time....I'm having to drive a 94 Corolla Saloon...in white....TAXI anyone??

  20. Compression test came back a-ok......will do a sniffer test again on saturday before i rip her to bits....
  21. Yeah, Daves who's looked at it with me is in the grand final of Tech of the year....he came top in the northern section by over 7% ... And I have 15 years of expeiriance too......so fingers crossed
  22. Will do..........I'm still intrigued myself, I really really didn't want it to be the headgasket......but we live and learn huh?
