  1. Hey thanks for all the replies everyone. I've suggested he trade his 325i in for a moped but he's not having any of it + he won't fork out for a road angel. Anyway he's also received a £60 fine, he's heard that if he sends a payment for more than this he'll be owed a refund, apparently this is a glitch in the system because the refund for the difference is never made & hence the file stays open and he won't receive the points? I heard about this one quite a few years back so surely they're on top of this one? Thanks again
  2. Hi all, Mate of mine has recently come over from the US and got his uk license about 3 months ago. Got himself a speeding ticket with 3 points for doing 36mph in a 30 zone. Since he's new from the US with his 1st uk license he's been told if he gets 6 points he may face suspension, can someone confirm? Also he's asking me if there's any glitch in the system whereby he can dodge the points? PS. He's a bmw driver Thanks very much
  3. Thanks for the thumbs up as you mowed past me at xxxmph! Nice motor, looked good without the rear spoiler Anyone here?
  4. Hi guys & gals, Am looking to change the side repeaters & front indicators to clear ones, did a search for part no's & toyota came up with these prices on the side repeaters: Celica/Clear side repeaters 2* Lamp Assy, side turn signal 81731-20220 £10.66 each + vat 2 * Indicator bulb 12v 5w 90981-15012 £2.17 each + vat 2 * Turn signal gasket 81732-20220 £1.44 each + vat Total: £33.53 inc vat Question is can you use the existing bulbs for the repeaters or will I need to buy the new ones? & take it the gasket is the same? Does anyone know where to get these cheaper? Thanks
  5. Hi m8, Not sure how far this is from you but I recommend Woodcock Services off J6 M25. They used to service all the motors for the Jap Import Centre and know mkiv Supra's v.well. Charge about £30/hr, v.good service prices & they only use genuine parts. Have used them for the last 4 yrs - v.pleased with their service.
  6. Many thanks guys! The starter motor is coming out of warranty anyway so I'll get it sorted when I have the cambelt done this Friday. Much appreciated
  7. Hi all, Have been getting a loud click or the odd partial turnover on the 1st 4-6 starting attempts, after that starts perfect. Have done some searches and this seems to be a dodgy starter motor. Toyota stock 2 types as follows: 28100-46140-84 1.4kw 213 incl vat & exchange 28100-46150-84 1.2kw 204 incl vat & exchange Not sure which one my car has, it's a J spec manual TT. The garage where I have it booked in said they can order the 1.4kw one but the other one has to be ordered from Japan. Question is will the 1.4kw one work on my car? Or is there a possibility it will only work with the 1.2kw one? Someone also posted that the 1.4kw one is recommended for UK use. I take it that means it will def work on a J spec? Any advice much appreciated. Thanks
  8. Sounds good Dude, Brighton isn't too much of a treck, pls let me know your price for a cambelt change & availability. Thanks Leet - I tried Octagon Toyota when I had my N/A, they wouldn't touch imports for some reason.
  9. Hmmm, sub frame bolts eh? I'll have to mention that when I get the cambelt sorted. Also planning on doing most of the basic stuff myself, ie. plugs, oil etc, will save myself a fortune. Yeah Jake - brought from a trader for 10.5k, thought that was a pretty good deal - any opinions on that? Saw one for 9k last wk in auto trader (black tt manual as well) - seemed 2good to be true, too late anyway! Homer u'll have to take my sup for a spin as well - make sure it performs like it should, although it may have the acceleration of a hedgehog compared to yours?
  10. Nice one Homer, am fairly new to TT's, would be cool to check ur motor sometime, will be in touch. Although seeing all those mods might turn me to the dark side of the force! Wana get a lot more clued up before I dive into modding, where do u get your sup serviced? main dealer?
  11. Cheers guys! Has done 59k, took a while to find a standard one at a reasonable price. Unbelievable how quiet it is with the stock exhaust, purrs like a pussycat! Got a 1yr warranty with it. Power delivery is v.smooth. I test drove a 400 bhp soop with hybrids b4 I saw this one - was quite misleading cos of the obvious difference in performance. Thought the turbos were coming in late when I 1st drove the one I brought but they are spot on, 1st at 2000, 2nd at 3000 - but obviously more subtle than the mod'd one I drove b4 it.
  12. Finally got my hands on a TT!!! Decided it was now or never, she's a '94 black RZ 6 speed, mint inside & out, had a full AA inspection done which came back sound, gave it a thorough check myself (although I'm not an expert). No smoke from exhaust on flooring it, engine sounds sweet, both turbo's fine. Drove it home with the radio off & just listened to the engine:D Completely stock apart from wheels which is what I wanted. Just need some advice on the following please: 1. Any good mechanics/garages in the Reading area (for a cambelt change?) 2. Can any1 source boot rubbers+bolts etc cheaper than main dealer? Toyota in Henley quoted me £435 for a cambelt change (surely wrong) and £515 for a full service - can u believe that?!!! Car's just been serviced but looking for a good regular garage. Thanks
  13. Thanks for your replies, if it's an air leak it shouldn't be too expensive to put right. Was just curious really. Both turbo's seemed healthy enough, just late! Excuse my ignorance - not v.technical, what's a bov then? & how much are they?
  14. Hi all, Recently test drove a Supra & both turbos came in v.late. 1st at 3000 & 2nd at 5500 RPM. Apart from that drove fine & seemed in very good condition. Done a search & it seems this could be down to a leaking/split primary air feed pipe from turbos or knackered ETTC. Is this one of those faults that could be a range of things & v.expensive to put right? Anyone experienced this & know the solution? The car was a JSpec, overdue for a service & had no mods, about 60k miles. Thanks
  15. That sounds like a plan, thanks! They've agreed to refund the £250 on Mon. I'll enquire then.
  16. Thanks for your comments. I think the £250 refund is quite a fair offer & will probably end up taking it. Waiting to hear back on whether my mum can get the same surgeon through the nhs but she may have to wait a couple of years that way! I know it can't be helped but the timing is a nightmare. Over and out for now, thanks for the advice
  17. Thanks for your reply Paul. I did ask if the deposit was refundable & was told it was if the inspection came back with a bad result. If I now get it inspected it will cost me more and the result maybe debatable. The garage did verbally agree to get any faults fixed after the inspection. I did pay the deposit by credit card so could take it up with my credit card co.? I'll enquire & see what they come back with. I'm tempted to just cut my losses & take the £250 back but will make some enquiries. Thanks again
  18. Hi all, As some of you know I am/was pretty close to purchasing a TT from an import garage in Folkstone. However due to an unfortunate turn of events I’m no longer in a position to buy it. Found out last night that my mum has received a private health care bill of 15 grand to pay for a back operation next month, so the car has to wait. I’m totally gutted but family has to come first. It’s not my intention to harm the garages reputation, just need some advice. I placed a £500 deposit on the car subject to inspection and it was agreed that this would be refunded if the car was no good. In light of this situation they will not refund it and have given me 2 options: 1. They will refund £250 (as a 1 off) & I can walk away having lost £250 2. They will retain the deposit which I can use if I purchase a car from them in the future. I offered to provide evidence of my mums op but this was dismissed. Obviously I would like a full refund but that isn’t an option (unless some1 knows otherwise?). So I was thinking of taking the £250 refund so at least I have no ties and & buy from anywhere once I’m in a position to. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? Any comments/advice much appreciated, Thanks
  19. Well if you check the car over I'll fund your piss up? A plan with no drawbacks.....but then you might drink the whole bar? Seriously I'm quite happy to pay u for ur time.
  20. She's a beauty! Cheers badgerman but they're closed on Sun, damn shame, they close at 5pm'ish on Sat. if that's a possibility?
  21. Cheers Mr Angry, good to get some +ve feedback on them. I'll see if the guy will go halves on an RAC inspection or knock a little off the price, he was having none of it when I viewed it though. I'll keep u posted.
  22. I know a garage in East Grinstead where I used to get my n/a serviced. They're happy to do an inspection but I'll have to talk the import garage into taking the car there. Not holding out much hope but it's worth a shot. Will make it clear that I won't buy without an inspection. If not the mechanic maybe available next w/end to go down to Folkstone & check it out. So super unleaded is the way to go with TT's? Why would plain unleaded be ill advised?
  23. Yeah I did enquire about the one that Paul had but it was sold a couple of weeks ago. Was going for £10.5k with 65k miles, looked like a v.nice car. Any advice on warranties? Any small print I should be aware of? I've heard that most of them are a sham but surely they should cover things like turbo's or will they fall under wear & tear?
  24. My budget is around 10k. The Jap garage in Folkstone is called futurautos. They had skylines, 350z's & a few very nice single turbo supras as well. Has anyone had any dealings with them? I've been looking for a black manual TT for a while, standard ones seem to be v.rare. But maybe I'm not looking in the right places?
