  1. Fairplay. Was going to shell out the £310 for the RAC but don't think it's worth it. The car isn't dirt cheap - going for £10.5k which is slightly cheaper than market rates I suppose. Although it will come with a 6 month warranty which will cover everything except wear & tear apparently. Is this some consolation? Gearbox seemed spot on, car drove in a straight line, no major rattles. Only worrying observation was that the turbos were coming in a bit late, 1st @3000 & 2nd@4500-5000. The car is completely standard & performance was ok but not phenomenal. Problem is the last TT manual I drove was mod'd to 400bhp, straight thru exhaust and quite a few engine mods so this one will feel slower in comparison. The car is on autotrader at 10495 if any1 wants a look. Cheers.
  2. RAC inspection for a 3 litre is coming in at £310! If anyone can spare the time after Wed pls let me know, I know Folkstone is a trek but I can drive you down if you're in the SE. Decent cash on offer. Cheers.
  3. Thanks for the advice chaps! Paul I'll be in touch shortly. If the inspection is no go I will def walk away. Car does seem to have been neglected but there's a chance it maybe in pretty good shape. I'll keep you posted.
  4. Hi all, Viewed a TT manual on Sat, v.keen on buying it but it is overdue for a service etc and has no service history with 60k miles on the clock. Was imported 5 yrs ago & has had 2 uk owners. Was thinking about an RAC or AA inspection but would gladly pay good cash to any clued up mechanic on this bbs who's familiar with mkiv TT's. The car is in the South East, is anyone available for this in the next week? Thanks
  5. Well cheers for the words of wisdom fellas, I was quite keen on the Scottish one but a respray will cost around 2k & after driving it for a year or2 it'll have well over 90k miles on the clock & hence will be difficult to sell on. Probably sit tight & keep looking for now. Have to carry on driving my other halfs 1.3 Fiesta Finesse in the meantime....NooooooooOOOOOoooooooooo!!!
  6. lol, nicely done Jake. Only thing holding me back from buying this soop is that it's in storm blue, nice colour but not me really. But it sounds like a mechanically sound motor for a good price so could always get a respray/colour change? Few people have suggested sitting & waiting for the right one, but I've waited ages & TT manuals are v.rare as u know. Signs off in deep contemplation....
  7. They're TRD ones and yeah have side skirts too. Was just curious, if it's too much hassle I'll just leave em on. Still looking anyway, if anyone knows of any TT manuals in black under 10k let me know please.
  8. Interesting, so how could I determine if they've been 'glassed on' dude? Is there a way of checking without damaging them?
  9. Thanks for your replies, most informative. I really like the look of the Soop when its standard, just wanted to find out how difficult it is to remove the rear spats. If it's just a case of 'carefully' ripping them off then I may proceed with the purchase and take my chances. They might even grow on me & I may leave em. Am even thinking of a respray (colour change) since the car is going cheap. Like gunmetal & black but are hard to come by at good prices, ie. less than 10k. Watch this space!
  10. Hi all, Been browsing this bbs for ages now, thought it was time I introduced myself. Sold my 2nd N/A last year after making the grave mistake of test driving a TT (hooked ever since!). Finally after doing the whole getting married & buying a property thing, the search for a TT manual has begun. Have found a nice one but was wondering if the rear skirts can be removed back to stock? Is this easily done? Anyone who's fitted these should know the score. Also I realise this may result in an angry mob after me but I nearly got talked into buying an m3 instead, but the path of the Supra was too strong... Thanks in advance
  11. Scott, I don't recommend you take your N/A to Supraman. Had the cooling system on my N/A flushed out by him a year back. On pick up the car had the acceleration of a hedgehog. Plugs were flooded with water. He insisted they would dry out in a week but they didn't. After getting the plugs dried out the car still wasn't right - turned out the front cat was totally knackered - but b4 he had the car it was driving perfectly. Just be careful and keep a close eye on things if you take it to him. I'd recommend Woodcock services in Surrey, they service all of the motors for the Jap Import Centre. Hope this helps, Raj
  12. Hi all, Just curious - is it possible to upgrade a MKIV N/A engine to a single turbo? Would it produce the same sort of power as converting a TT to single turbo? ie. 400 bhp+ What sort of costs are involved? I hear it's somewhere around the 6k mark but can it be done for less? Apparently the Jap market produces kits to achieve this, but again I've got no idea of prices. Cheers, Raj
