I always thought that if you left the first cat in and removed the second that it would eventually burn your cat out? As for the restrictor ring, i think whiftbitz do them dirt cheap.

I had similar to this when i installed my stereo, heating and aircon both dead, and all the lighting in that area as well, i just pulled all the fuses until i found the one that was dead.
