Cheers for that Chris!

Hopefully it wont be to long now till I get my engine back in good working order! Spoke to Chris the other day and all the valves need re skimming as they were rather damaged as they were running with not enough clearence - if Chris is around he might add a few words to explain it better. But basically the valves will of not been able to close properly, and there for loosing power and also a lot of heat was being generated which would explain why they looked burnt. The head casting wouldnt come any cleaner than it has, and Chris has tried steam cleaning with detergent and solvents but still no look. From working on it, it appears that over time, the engine has probably been run on cheap oil, with no regular oil changes. But slowley, everything is getting sorted!!!

im not complaining And i have tripple checked all doccuments and everything is correct, like make model, and checked it was a MKIV. Admiral have always been cheap for me. I think my 200sx turbo with 1 yrs no claim a few yrs back now, was only 700ish fully comp. prob about 23 maybe. not sure to be honest. All i remeber was I had it for 2 weeks, as i it was parked up on the street and a pi$$ head came around the corner, smashed straight into mine and 2 cars in front. Wrote my car off, and as he wasnt insured (police caught him, they saw it all happen) I had to pay the excess, which was 350, and i lost my no claims!!!! I think I paid something like 2k for it, and they offered me £750 for it after 2 weeks of ownership. They ended up upping their offer to £1700 after i showed other cars that were simialr! Still though, after having paying out excess and what not, im sure i only ended up getting £1100 back! so lost 900 quid and my no claims and it wasnt even my fault! So admiral were not great then!! Still, I have stopped with them though as they are cheap.

Good News, my Pistons have now arrived and so have the Rod bolts. Chris is going to be assembling the short motor in the next few days and if he gets chance, he will upload some pics on here for us all

Sorry if I am being stupid, but I have no idea what it is? What does it do?

Ill try and take these turbos apart sometime this week Darren, and take some pics of the internals etc to see if they have been upgraded etc.

Cheers for your comments Chris, look forward to the pics.

Chris has also said that he will take some pics of it all being put back together, so I will put these photos on as and when I get them - unless Chris wants to put them directly onto here himself, I dont mind.

Okay then guys, I know a few people have asked me how much I have spent so here are a few figures to get your teeth into. Purchased from Flatlander Racing (http://www.flatlander-ipp.co.uk/index.html) Wisco Pistons and Rings - £454.67 inc delivery Work Carried out by Chris Wilson up to date: Skim head and check for warpage on cam journals £58.00 Skim block and check mains for straightness and parallesism £68.00 Head gasket set £310.70 Conversion gasket set £51.75 Big End bearing set £64.53 Main bearing set £138.41 Thrust bearing set £29.44 Water pump assembly £96.32 Oil pump assembly £138.97 Crankshaft damper £248.00 Bore and hone block £120.00 Check crank for straightness and size and micro polish £50.00 Balance rotating and reciprocating parts £180.00 On top of all the above I have had to purchase tools and accessories to assist me in dismantling everything, prior to taking the parts down to Chris. Also not forgetting things like Engine Crane hire as well which was approx £40 inc delivery, and the Engine Stand I purchased which was £56.39 Further work to be carried out by Chris Wilson is as follows Rebuild head, with good used cams, re shimmed and with new stem seals fitted and seats re ground £400.00 This assumes no valves or guides need replacing (unlikely, but possible). To assemble short motor labour and sundries £300 To fit head to short motor and set cam belt up and fit water pump £150 And yet more stuff to purchase Once all this is done other things I need to replace/add/fix are: New Apexi Air Filter as current one has oil in it from when the last turbos leaked. I need a new set of tyres all round! I would like to have fitted a Fuel/Air ratio guage and I would like to get my current EGT guage fixed, as it doesnt work at the moment! I think I may need a new smaller restrictor ring I really am praying that NOTHING at all goes wrong/needs replacing!

Chris Wilson has been working with my engine, and below is an update on the project. * Wiseco Pistons are ordered and being sent to Chris. * The engine is bored and honed, Wiseco supply those pistons for a specific bore size * With Chris already are bearings and gasket sets and a set of new head bolts * On order with Chris are; A new Water pump Set of ARP Rod bolts A new Crank pulley with a new washer and bolt. The crank itself polished up fine and is away for balancing, the pulley being sent to the balancer today. Chris has had the block surface ground, as it was a bit out, so that'll be the block work finished.
