The link isn't working but I guess I'll fond an answer with a search. How about the question of lowering??
-
Right, I have wanted to own a Supra for as long as I care to remember but everytime I've come close to it I've decided I'm not ready financially! Well, I'm at that point now where it's more viable and I just have to do it! It's an itch that needs to be scratched. I'm going to Devon on Saturday to look at a late 97 TT VVTi tiptronic and if it's as good as it looks, I'll be buying it. My only gripe is it's totally stock. Although it's cheaper to buy a ready modded car, it's also nice to have a blank canvas as there are quite a few Supras around that are really not to my taste! 1st question is what is needed to get the car to BPU stage and roughly how much does it cost? Secondly, I've heard there are issues with lowering some later Supras?? What are these and how do I know if my car will have these issues?? Thanks in advance. Simon.

Well this one tempts me as I need to px my car and he's offering me a pretty good price. He's now agreed to get it sorted for me as part of the deal as well as repairing a cracked side skirt and repainting the bumper.

I don't think it's that. Definately sounded like a metal on metal knocking through the chassis. Also, there seemed to be a slight flat spot low down, then picks up at about 2-2.5k revs. Normal or a sign it could do with some plugs and leads??
-
That would be most handy if there is anyone willing to come have another look with me? I live in Portsmouth and the car is in weybridge so anyone around those areas or en route?? The gearbox mount suggestion is a very good one as the noise seems to come from the centre of the car, but then I know noises like this can travel and be very deceptive!! Here's a link to the car, it's a fresh import so would be most impressed if anyone has any history on it!! Lol. http://mobile.pistonheads.com/sales/1799608.htm

...at an SZ manual today. Was nice and tidy, needed a bit if tarring up and some interior trim sorting but on the whole, all good. However, the only thing that bothered me was that under heavy acceleration and over run from high RPM there was a VERY prominent vibration. Sounded like the exhaust knocking but while stationary and without being able to get under the car, I gave exhaust a good shake around and it didn't hit anywhere! Any ideas what else this could be??

LOL...yea because I'm made of money!!!

After a bit of thought this evening I think I am leaning toward the NA. Manual or auto is the next question. I don't think I'm that fussed as long as its a nice 1! I must admit I have been longing for an auto for quite sometime. What better car than an auto Supra!! Never been in 1 but can imagine its a nice smooth ride from the silky Toyota straight six!
-
I'm not saying I want to buy a Supra JUST to drive to and from work!!!! I'm saying I've always loved them and always promised myself 1, now I'm in the postion to buy 1 I just want to make a few comparisons to weigh up whats going to be best for me!!!! I'm also not saying I'm expecting to buy a Supra and get 60mpg...I simply just want to know what to expect!! Any more constructive input about Supra ownership will be greatfully recieved! Particularly about the NA auto and manual.
-
Errr...yea you can! My mate had one when I had my 200sx and hell yea you can go sideways in NA!!
-
Also, what are the NA auto's like?? Part of me does fancy an auto just for the smooth easy drive...but will it be a bit gutless?? Never been in 1!
-
If you have done your rears that quick I'm guessing you go everywhere sideways!! I've been there, done that and left those days behind with my 200sx!! Got caught by plod too many times!! Granted the SiR's are rapid...love mine but for me its all about the sexy looks of the Supra! A TT would be an added bonus but the NA I'm sure (I hope) would be quick enough to keep me happy!! That would be an ideal scenario for me!! I was 24 in Feb, had quotes on Supras...JDM TT £632 fully comp. and the NA £545 fully comp! Currently paying £880 on the SiR!
-
That's crossed my mind but by the time I've insured / taxed / maintained / ran a 2nd car I'd be better off just running the Supra! Of course I'm not hell bent on getting a good fuel economy...I'm not silly and know full well it's going to be juicy...just want to be armed with as much info before making my decision!! If the NA was loads better then I'd go for it but seeing as it seems to be a close run thing, the TT is seeming quite attractive! Another thing, is it possible to retro fit cruise control??
-
Well 22-23 mpg is around what I expected for NA I guess but alot better than I expected for TT! That has got me thinking now!!
-
LOL, I understand that having a TT will offer the sweet temptation of flooring it everywhere! But, if I just potter it to and from work, will it be OKish on fuel?? So is the difference between NA and TT vast?? I'm working on the assumption that the NA will have to work harder than the TT to get up to speed and so will be less economical that you'd expect??
-
I am selling my Civic SiR soon and am coming over to the dark side and buying the car I've ALWAYS wanted...a mkIV! Now, I know the words 'fuel economy' and 'Supra' don't generally fit in the same sentence but I just want to know the figures while I'm in the research phase! I will be using the car as a daily driver and can't decide between a manual NA or an auto TT. Is there a vast difference in economy between the 2? If any1 could shed a little light on MPG figures they actually get I'd be greatful. I've found some official figures but they seem a little vague! My daily commute is about 15 miles round trip, about 6 of those are motorway, the rest on 40mph town roads. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi there, as some of you may have read i posted a few days ago about looking to buy my 1st Supra! Well I've found one and the guy has told me a few problems with it that I'd like some advice on before I travel 4hrs to look at it!! 1st is he says its got "a slight exhaust rattle" (Its a standard exhaust on a 1995 NA manual! 2nd he says there is a warning light on the dash that comes on "occasionally" but he's had it checked and its down to "having an Apexi filter" Do these bits sound legit or does it sound like he's trying to hide something??? Thanks in advance for any help!

Congrats mate...does look a stunning car and i would of bought it had you of decided not to!!

I've had a quick browse thru there but only really found 1 suitable but it PROVISIONALLY sold! Couldn't post in the for sale section (assuming as I have just joined) but if the sale falls thru for any reason Vaneesa, get in touch...I'm very interested!!

Hi there all! Im a newbie that does not yet own a supra but am hoping to do so soon! I've been to a few of your meets in Southsea with a friend and met a few of you! The time has now come go buy a MKIV Supra! Im looking to get an NA Manual if poss but I only have £3500 to spend at the mo! Is it reasonable to think I'm gonna find a half decent one for that money?? If so can any1 give me any pointers as to what to look out for when going to view one!? Thanks in advance guys!!
