    Hey all!

Posted a few times on here, and have just bought a supra TT in silver from a member on this forum, so thought it was about time I said hello! I'm from slough, 19 and it's my first supra so no doubt I'll be making use of the site a lot! Plan to become a fully paid member soon too

    Active Spoiler

Hi all, just a quickie, my active spoiler, when I was buying the car, I saw it working, now when driving I havent noticed it (not sure if I've had it pushed in (i.e. off) but generally dont hear it lower, and also, the 'down' button doesnt seem to do anything, BUT I SAW IT WORK before I bought the soop! Any Ideas? I've tried it with engine on and pressing down button, but no joy? is the light supposed to go on when you press the down button? I assume you have to hold the button for it to stay down, so I guess I cant really see it unless I get someone to hold the button, but it's just I couldnt hear it either! many thanks!
  8. Sorry in advance, as no doubt this would have been covered, but I cant find an answer that means anything to me! Bear with me as I've basically no knowledge on doing this but: How would I go about converting the speedo redout on a tt auto to mph? Anyone have any suggestions of parts etc? I'm just generally worried about speed limits / cameras, with it being in kph, so would like that sorted asap! I need a satnav anyway, and hopefully that will have a readout, but with acuracy (or a delay in updates at least) and a small read out, its not Ideal really.. I'm not too concerned about the odo being in kph as it's not something I'd use often, so if that would make the conversion easier, I'd go for it! I'd like to have a shot at this myself, so if anyone could point me in the direction of some helpfull links etc, that'd be great! if its not a job for a noob, how much am I looking at for a pro to have a stab at it? any help appreciated!!
  9. got any pics of yours supraboy? looks nice from your avy
  10. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOYOTA-SUPRA-TWIN-TURBO-ABFLUG-WIDEBODY-FULL-CARBON_W0QQitemZ130149643725QQihZ003QQcategoryZ18290QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem note the second from last photo where the boot lid and wings dont meet. No one on here I hope??
  11. I'll be a 19 year old owner if I hurry up and get one sorted soon
  12. no doubt, I just dont know if I'd enjoy a supra without the speed. I've tried a test drive in a jag, but getting one in a supra has been a pain - people havent exactly been queueing up to give someone my age a drive in one. Rode as passenger in a n/a but its obviously not the same. Are dealers inclined/likely to let you test drive? I havent tried one for a supra as there werent many nearby, but I wouldve thought they got a few chancers in there..
  13. Cheers, I'll consider that if poss! if a good condition NA can be got for 4k, I might go for that - Ideally I'd have a TT but 8k is streaching my budget to buggery, and Will eat into the money set aside for insurance - which is bad enough when you're 19! The only reason I'd need a car in a month or so is because my ins company on the current car screwed me over, and someone gave me one quote but charged another.. paying out £360 a month insuring it so need to sell up and pay insurance in full with the car.. If I was stuck with the nasp, I was tempted to go for an s type jag 3 litre instead, with similar performance (well, accelleration wise at least), so now not too sure! does the nasp handle just as well as the tt?
  14. Hi again, sorry if this is a stupid q- but hey, theyre the easiest to answer! Definatley gearing towards a supra now, have thunk about the issues in last post, and I thunks I'll be fine to afford to run one! question is, what do I look for price wise? I was thinking of going for a higher mileage car, for a lower price, and ideally was after a TT. However, I keep seeing massively varying prices, and dont know what I should be aiming to spend for a TT with say 70k miles? I've seen NA's with 35k for £3000 occasionally on autotrader, and TT's as low as £3340, but then I've seen TT's for £8k+, which, as far as I can see, are the same (or very similar) spec, the cheap ones seeming to be well enough kept (lil bit of paint correction to be done etc) looking for as standard as possible as insurance is already a bit of a beating.. I wanted a manual, but it doesnt seem like that'l be affordable just yet. IDEALLY, I have a budget of 4k this month (I'll have much more to play with month after next.) What would be the lower bounds of a) a TT (auto or manual) and b) a nasp ? Can anyone give a 0-60 time of the NA sz? can't find many details anywhere! any info, or even clickies so I can look up mysef wouldbe great! many thanks
  15. thanks for the advice, I may well put off buying till I have that extra 3k just in case! What sort of price should I be looking at? I've seen supras from 3k all the way up to 10k unmodified - now obviously theres no set price bracket per mileage etc, but should I be very wary of the cheaper ones or is it ever worth the punt
  16. Thanks, I'll need to look into that definatley. I havent had too much experience with engines, so there will be a massive limit to what I could do myself on the car, but servicing seems like a waste to get someone else to do it.. Id like to say id teach myself but if it's my main car, I dont wanna risk putting it off the road for weeks are many of the more expensive jobs doable? I dont really have a place to do too much work other than a gazebo 2bh, but i it could cut a lot of costs then it could be worthwhile.
  17. ah see I'd be using it quite a bit, isnt an oil change diy'able if you just get the filter? I'd definatley try that way if it's every 3-9k
  18. thanks for the responses guys, sorry i havent replied in ages! no internet!! It's not that I'm at the edge of my budget after buying the car, After buying and insuring up front, i'd have a grand to stash away, and a bit to save after fuel each month etc, It was more me trying to establish what I'd be letting myself in for! I'll have a good search and see what I can come up with. I won't be modding at all due to age + insurance, so I dont have to worry about that just yet!
  19. Hi everyone! I'm new around here but just had a few questions. I'm looking at getting a supra 3.0tt as soon as my current car sells, I was just woundering what sort of running costs I'm likely to get? I know that fuel economy will be near non existant, but what am I expecting on servicing costs? I read a service needed every 9k? how much are minor and major services, and how often? Also what parts commonly need replacing? many thanks!
