  6. Adam!!!!!!!! I would just like to point out that Rich stole my identity, Shadow Beast is me!!!!! And if it was my car that was in Northmpton on this occassion he was supposed to be cleaning it on the drive way and not bombing around town. I will check the milage so I can be sure!
  7. cheers, yeh the first is in a swimming pool, and the second is an open water swim, so do you have a training bike then? one that you do the miles on to keep up your fitness and then one to compete on? I was planning to get a bike that i could use for both evening rides and then compete with it at club events. so whats best in your opinion then? spend as much as i can afford on a bike and just get the other stuff from the net or similiar. What do i need to be looking for in the bike? any ideas of ones to look at? richie
  8. Hi guys, as some of you know i got out the army a few weeks ago and as such am looking at things to do to keep my fitness up, i do the normal stuff like runs and the gym, but am looking to try something different, i am thinking about triathalon, i can run well, swim well but never really done the bike thing, i have put a link to a site that is doing deals for the likes of me, do the packages look ok? ideally the 499 ne would suit, but the 699 i could stretch t if its a lot better. cheers for any help. there is a comp in northants in april which i would like to enter. richie http://triuk.com//index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=17&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=26
  9. as said above, use the proper cable and your not going to get any problems, 2.5 wont draw to much current it just has a higher current carrying capicty as apposed to 1.5mm. richie
  10. hi mate, just read through your thread, very sorry to hear about your dog. My choclate lab has hip displacia and had it diagnosed at 6 months old, he went to cambridge where the vets told us that it was the worst they have ever seen, he is 6 now, runs for 40 mins every night, best thing we have ever given him was green lipped muscles by company called muscletone, you can get them from most health shops, best thing we ever give him. richie
  11. [then a long hot soak in a bath with a guinness!! richie Stupra "I'd love to join you" Is there something you want to tell me - lol
  12. The sun always shines on tv :- milk inc richie
  13. thankyou Its great fun, we did it in 2 hours 42 mins but at the start we were posistions 3607-3610 so with that many people in front of you there is no way times are going to be competitive, today was really more of a challange to the team that had never done anything like this before. the 8 miles goes really quickly and to be honest you dont really realize the distance. as for the training to do for this, the best thing i can advise would be to go running in the woods, jump in every river you come across, put a log in the middle, swim out to it and duck dive it 4 times!! then go and touch your nearest electric cattle fence!! crawl through some sewer pipes half full of mud, jump over some silage bales 15 times, and crawl under some barbed wire! oh and if you can get your local fire brigade to hose you down whilst doing some of those things that would help aswell!! prefrably just before you swim through the lake! richie
  14. oh yeh, forgot about that, its between to massive obstacles, its basically a washing line with loads of the electrical tape that they put round cattle fences dangling down, i got hit once, its quite a belt when your wet!! richie
  15. Yeh there is 22 obstacles like that spread over a distance of 8 miles!! Just got back and all i can say is BRILLIANT!! what a day, the weather was kind to us, only 6 degrees but the sun was out and not a lot of wind, however the water only seemed to be about -5!! first time in and certain body parts vanish! the obstacles varied from walls to tunnells to scramble nets to high boards into the lake. If any of you are thinking about doing this in july its well worth it if you have a few phobias and want to prove or test yourself. Only picked up a few injuries, scrapes on knees and hands, very sore legs and time for a shower to remove mud from places i never knew was there!! then a long hot soak in a bath with a guinness!! richie
  16. well here we go guys, off in a mo, fingers crossed it goes well!!! richie
  17. i shall try not to but there is going to be around 5000 people running so i think the likely hood is that i may get accidentally pushed into the wires!!! it should be good fun, if i am in any fit state tomorrow then i will let you know how it went, off to bed now as i am up at 5!! richie
  18. I need something to get my fix! richie
