  1. totally agree with you there mate. If someone hears a car alarm, most people ignore it. I was in Edinburgh in my old mr2 and the alarm was playing up. It kept going off etc while I was fiddling about inside the car. Not one person came up to me! For all they know I could have been trying to steal the thing!
  2. Just bout the ai606 ! ... Can you get any funcky add-ons for this or is it a boggo standard affair?....
  3. Does anyone know anywhere in the borders, or Edinburgh area that will install a cat1 alarm? I have a toad ai606 and need it installed pretty sharpish. thanks
  4. tbh I'm just after a decent cheap as possible cat1 alarm. I used to have a Scorpion alarm on my mr2 and omg did that give me nothing but trouble!
  5. How does that work? Press the alarm button, then when the engine stops the car automatically arms?
  6. another question then.... Anyone in the borders/edinburgh area who knows somewhere that'll fit a cat1 alarm??? Which alarms do you guys recommend, or is the toad ai606 about the best value for money one around?
  7. Do turbo timers work with the toad ai606 alarm
  8. but surely loads of people either don't have a cat1 alarm or don't have the certificate?
  9. Ok... First of all I just took out an insurance policy with Sky Insurance. I got the docs through the door today saying I needed to return certain documentation etc..... One being Proof of security. It said... "Theft cover is granted on the condition that your vehicle has a fitted and working approved security device. Your insureres require proof of purchase, fitting etc in order to extend theft cover. There is no theft cover without acceptable security proof" So as my car currently has nae alarm whatsoever (try coming to steal it and I'll bash you!!... lol). What is an approved security device?? Does it have to be a Cat1 alarm system fitted professionally?? I was looking on ebay and saw some decent 2way alarms with remote start and turbo timer features. Most of them alot cheaper than any of the decent Cat1 alarms. Anyone??
  10. thought that might have been the case mate... most roundabouts where I live are single lane! .... lol Hope you get it sorted!
  11. Don't mean to wind you up here mate, but tbh it sounds like you were in the wrong. Regardless where he was/wasn't indicating you were supposed to be giving way to the chap. I can't see how you hit him unless you were right up his bumper. Or he decided at the very last minute to go straight on??
  12. I just took out insurance with Sky Insurance today. Paid a deposit, then paying monthly payments by direct debit. I'm a bit confused now.... I'll get a cover not straight away ( I pressume)... but when should I expect to receive my policy documents?
  13. sorry... it's not had a rebuilt yet... he's rebuilding it, then bringing it to WGT (rx7 specialist) to get remapped etc.
  14. aaaah.... well he would be getting my car. Don't even want to think what would have to be done there!! Or he gets duplicate plates made up... does it just before he leaves NL..... ???... albeit not 100% legal... but would do the job!
  15. what would happen for example... if he moved to this country... brought the car with him on Netherland plates ... drove it here for "x" months.... (you are allowed to drive a foreign car here for something like 6 months before it has to be registered with UK plates etc). Then obviously because he has decided to stay in this country, the car would need to be registered in the UK. Do they not get a "Q" plate or something? Surely he would be able to sort something out here if he wasn't going back to NL?? Obviously the above is hypothetical... but a possible thing to happen.
  16. but he wants to bring it to the country... get the engine worked on (bring it here as if he was a tourist)... then I would get it. So is that not possible? ... would he have to take it back, then do all that?? Help!
  17. When importing a car from the Netherlands... what actually needs to be done?? I know for cars being imported from Japan there's quite a bit. But the Netherlands is in the EU etc, so there's less to do if I'm right?? Anyone know what does need done??? This is the car in question..... Heavily modded rx7 with recent rebuild. Engine side of things have also been fettled with.. The owner is bringing the car to the UK to get a rx7 specialist to do some work on it. I might be in the position to buy it from him when he does (saves me the hassle of trying to get it shipped over). So what needs to be done before/after I buy it?? How would I go about it?? Anyone any idea? thanks for any info/advice!
  18. I'll possibly take the induction kit off you if you still have it up for grabs?
  19. how much for the dash panels? Any pics?
  20. I could possibly be interested in these mate.... got any more pics with them on the car?
  21. always wondered what these were like!!
