Actually i see now, I would only get the extreme music, you can get for around £50 oem on the net. More than enough, but creative has terrible driver issues at the moment

what card? you comparing a graphics card to a sound card? and PC world for components? are you mad or just have money to burn?

Look just trust me on this, im not just arguing for the sake of it. Ive used AMD cpus's since the duron all the way up till the FX series. One of the mistakes people make is that buy crap motherboards and crap ram becuase they dont think it makes a difference. Well it does a lot! I still currently have amd cpu's, but if i were buying a PC this very second it would use a conroe. What Cpu's are you comparing??

The 7900gs is simply the best GPU you get can get for the money. Its by no means a top end GPU anymore, and you can pick them up for £100. At the very least I would get a 6800gt as you can get these foir like £60! But getting a 6200 or other budget card is a complete and utter waste of time. Ive seen budget cards have trouble with DVD playback! If his budget is £500 he can get what i said, and be still under budget if careful, and have a good alround PC. 7900gs are ok cards not fantastic. I have two 7900gtx's in SLI and they stil have their moments!

mate im sorry but thats absolute crap. You may love AMD, heck we all do, ive been with AMD for years, but conroes are currently the very best CPU you can get period! Im sure AMD will retaliate soon, but just google the E6600 reviews on hexus.net or other review sites, think your going to be suprised. And they are cheap, very cheap! I agree games dont use duel core yet, but the conroes are faster for games regardless of duel core or not. They are leagues ahead of the old P4's

hahahahahaha Well ive just read a few ways to waste £500!!!!!!!!! And whats all this bullshit about conroes not being good? The E6700 is faster than an FX62 in every benchmark!! I personally would not buy a new PC right now at all. Vista is just around the corner, and you are going to need a stand-alone graphics card for that. As for sound cards, unless you have some amazing PC speakers, such as the Logitech Z-5500's then dont bother. On a good motherboard onboard will more than suffice. As for graphics cards, you can buy a card that costs £30 but really there is no point at all if you ever want to play a current let alone next gen PC game on even medium settings. When building a new pc, you need to decide what its for. If you want it for games, then DO NOT BUY ONE YET!!! I REPEAT DO NOT BUY ONE YET!!!! Vista is just around the corner with direct X 10 which means much better graphics, and we are still awaiting AMD's response to quad core! Yes i said quad core, because thats what we are on now people, forget duel core, thats going the same way as skt 939 processors ie obsolete! If you just want a good fast general PC, and are not interested in playing games, then go for the following. E6300 or E6400 conroe processor 2 gig of DDR 2 memory, A branded motherboad eg Asus, Abit, DFI, Epox etc (none of this asrock shite) And a Nvidia 7900gs Finally and most importantly get a decent power supply. Spend at least £40 on a branded 500watt + PSU. Ives seen too many PCs destroyed by cheap PSU's!! But if you can hang on at all, Do not buy a PC now, quad core is soon to become mainstream and prices will drop with the arrival of vista in January. And if you want direct X 10 with Vista you will need a direct X 10 GPU!
