  1. I have a massive solar panel on the boot floor. Its about 5w. Doesn't stop the battery from going dead :(

I also have a Gunsons automatic battery charger that I've extended the wires on so it can go out of the garage and to the car parked by the garage door.It has a permenant float option that keeps the battery topped up to just the right level when switched to auto. I leave it on this all the time.

  2. Bleep test level 5 is just barely a jog :)

5.4 is the police entrance requirement...... am I right? ;)

I do level 10 on the 15m, which gets quite quick after level 7.

Don't worry, its a breeze. I can email you the .wav file to play on an MP3 player if you like and have a go at it yourself?

  3. Really gets my goat:

"I turned around to him and he turned around to me and said.... and I turned around and said .....and he then turned around and said...""

Must get pretty dizzy with all this f**kin turning around eh??

  4. It may not be a sensor but may be an engine component or similar such as fuel pump, injectors, clogged cat etc.

Aha!! I was right (along with my other guesses) LOL :D

The melted cat can be caused by very retarded ignition timing or over fuelling, or a misfire.

  5. More little H sprogs then??? LOL

1.5 miles in 9 minutes is my best..... but really blowing it out of my arse at that speed, think its about 16kph (10mph).

    H you should be about 13.5 stone-ish.

  6. I don't know a lot about Volvos, but......

If its the same as most basic OBD systems then a serious fault such as a sensor completely duff should light the check engine light & go into Limited Operation System (aka limp home mode). If its a slightly flaky sensor, then it waits for it to flag up the same fault for something like 4 times in a row (4 journeys), then should set the service light, indicating that there's a slight fault that needs attention.

If you're getting no lights then that's wierd. It may not be a sensor but may be an engine component or similar such as fuel pump, injectors, clogged cat etc. The engine not revving beyond 4000 sounds like its a programmed rev limit rather than a failure induced one.

As for the age of cars that have limp home, I was working on Fords in '97 that had them, and I guess they'd been around for a while in Volvo before that.

  7. Depends how you drive it I suppose. My girlfriend had an old 106 which just kept on going.

Same base vehicle as the AX and the Saxo.

    All good, dependable cars. :D

The only concern may be spares availability depending on the countries they were exported to.

  8. Citroen AX 0.954 litre 5 speed 5 door. I've just bought a 1.1 and it fits 4 BIG blokes in with relative comfort. Economy is outstanding. They are very reliable (as long as it is properly serviced before setting off). And easy to work on.

They are also very common in the poorer countries as they were/are cheap.

Spares are very readily available & very cheap.

For more space fit a roof box. I had one on my old AX 954 and it was fine.

If you want to find a car I can help as I'm also a member of (no laughing please) the AXOC.co.uk
