Do you even have an ecu capable of using the flex fuel sensor ? ( and then it will subsequently need tuned too ) VP M1 and ethanol are NOT remotely the same thing. Ethanol is readily available, there's a place in Warrenpoint selling it and they can deliver all over ( for fireplaces.... ). Sadly not readily available from any pumps. In order to make use of any ethanol, you're entire fuel system would need to be capable too, ie it will need to cope with potential water/filter issues and the additional flow needed. Water injection by a mile will be the more cost effective and easiest to install....because you could do so without any additional tuning if it was purely for safety.

Clean thoroughly, brake cleaner is great. Ensure there is a good bead on the pipe and tighten the clamp properly ( not over tight either ) and they will not come off unless using lots of boost. Hairspray is a very old trick and can help too...but for most part follow the above and it shouldnt be needed.

You'd either need to lock timing for the test or ensure igniton based idle control is not active, as it will be moving timing quiet a bit. Another way to verify, is to pull all the plugs except cyl1, crank the engine and record the syncscope. This will indicate 0-720 ( 0 based on where you've already told it ) so you should be able to see where crank rotation slows slightly when cyl1 is on compression and if this then corresponds to 0deg. If not then you need to adjust til it is correct.

Why not email Ryan/Syvecs ? or whoever supplied/mapped the ecu before ? Fitting the trigger wheel is easy, but you'll need to configure the ecu for that wheel, as well as tell it where the missing teeth are in relation to cyl TDC ( and type of sensor used etc ) You should be able to get a decent TDC reference from a simple visual/test rotation of the engine by hand. ie where the trailing edge of the missing tooth after the gap is ATDC which is what you are telling the ecu ie. set engine to TDC cyl1 then rotate clockwise until the tooth after the gap has just passed the sensor....then note how much you rotated to get to that point

I think the only saving grace...is sometimes vendors put silly prices on when the part goes out of stock so no sane person would actually try and purchase. But I guess it is possible he did pay it !

it would need to be seriously overfueled for this to happen, and over a period of time. Not seconds or minutes. And generally a car that bad, would have had other bad running symptoms too, or been drinking fuel like f... Simple check. Check oil level and smell the oil. If it stinks of petrol, then clearly petrol has made it's way there. If the oil level is higher than you last left it and it stinks of petrol...fairly self explanatory.

The strut carries the entire load and also maintains suspension geometry, so it is a critical part and as such needs to be strong.

I hope he didnt pay that listing price for them ? £2500 !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's full Prodrive suspension prices. With a shaft diameter so small, there was only ever going to be one outcome with those shocks, just be thankful he wasnt going faster at the time. Whilst still a budget set, buy some BC Coilovers or AST. At least they're proven to work and not fall apart after 5 minutes and they really arent that expensive.

It drives fine....a little noisy, but fine. Its roughly an 800 mile round trip to either Santa Pod or Avon park for me, so it'd need to drive fine !!!!! Yes, I built and own the car.

I do believe, that once I can get my engine to rev properly...it will fly !!!!!! Although, that could be literally, which wouldnt be good !!!!!! Thanks for the comments

Do you have a copy of these rules ? I did see what Santa Pod put out early last year, but it was only proposals, nothing definate. These were basically the NHRA rules, Sport compact and all that stuff.

Not bashing here, as obviously I have a vested interest in whats going on here, as this could seriously fuck me up for racing soon...but does it comply ? And have Santa Pod actually told anyone what these mystical rules are ? The NHRA rules for sub10 cars are very very long, and IMO there isnt a single car on the scene today, that would comply with them in full. I read through them earlier in the year, and you would almost need to do a ground up build, to comply with every rule...if indeed parts existed to allow it to happen. I can understand the safety aspect, but roll cages etc in road cars, are not a safety item for a road car. But either way, if Santa Pod are going to be dicks about it, they need to at least put their rules out there for people to see, and stop keeping them a secret.. Otherwise Avon park is going to get very busy next year !!!
