How much can a standard jap auto box take? Was told today at exeter jap car meet that a standard auto box shouldnt take any more than about 400bhp? This was by a skyline owner so not sure how correct he is. Thought I'd ask the men that know . . .

Dont intend doing that db, i just want to go in armed with a bit of knowledge about the basic to look fors . . . Rightly or wrongly, with the money being paid for this car i am some what a little trusting of the seller. Folders of receipts should show what work has been carried out and when. After that i guess its fingers crossed like it is when buying any used car. Oh, and a reserve in the accounts in preperation for the worst!

Not doubting that the car isnt as good as it sounds for one minute, quite a few people have told me that its pukka lol. Just want to look like I know what i'm doing when I get there, and to get a few ideas. Why would the car have blown the top of a plug a few months ago is my only concern when I get there, so any little bit of advice is appreciated, if there's a problem with the car i wanna know what I'm letting myself in for.

Trying to find a thread I once read, printed out and put safe about what to look for when considering buying a Supra. It was quite a detailed thread but cant remember its author. It discussed what to look for, taking it up to certain revs etc. I put it so darned safe - I cant remember where!!!! Any ideas guys . . . please. I am seeing a Supe in the morning!!!!!!!

Just spent lunch reading up on all your comments about this in technical. Should be ok as long as its set up ok. Could always change the box!!!

you could have the screamer pipe re-routed back to the Exhuast. Might be an idea so the neighbours still speak to me!!!!!

Didnt get round to the stroker kit, still running the custom turbo. HOW LOUD? Wouldnt pass the sound test on a track day then????

Totally agree with you homer. My next question will be, any recommendations? bit difficult living down south, Devon isnt exactly the ideal location for a choice in experienced Supra tuners!!!

From memory - its a 94/95, imported in 2000? Was a tt until it was replaced with a single. New ECU, 910/920? injectors, cat remember the rest - will have to post the rest when I get home, unless I can post a link, i'll give it a go.

its a beast, where abouts are you comming from, - TRAVELLING FROM EXETER, DEVON ive seen the engine, that turbo is huge - HOPE SO!!! I think a guy called simon did a lot of the tuning, he used to work for japspeed-racing, great guy - YEP! JAPSPEED'S LOOKED AFTER IT AND DONE ALL THE WORK FOR HIM!!

Hopefully picking up my first Supra in ten days time . It has good service history and quite a few engine mods, but not sure when it was last tuned and tweaked (I will ask tomorrow). This may seem a silly question but whats the first thing i should get checked out and tested, was hoping to get it dyno'd so could all this be done at the same time? Dont really want to blow the bloody thing up on its first outing!!!

39 % and disgusted I think mine was one holiday in magaluf drinking lager with a full breakfast at 9 in the morning on my way back in from a night out!!!!
