Anybody tried polishing their Calipers, rather than painting ? Seems like a couple of people have done/are doing this on i-Supra. They 'seem' to be coming up really well - more like polished ally than a mirror finish - but I like that idea rather than painting. Would like to know how long it takes (?) and if they've laquered after (are the calipers Iron/Steel or what ? Iron will tarnish VERY quick and even steel FAIRLY quick if not protected). Good Question efc, how's about a RUFF list of 'places-to-run' anybody.....? ? I know North Weald (Harlow/Ongar way)[may do that next time it's on] Avon Raceway (is that still there ?) ...........?

I can feel a friendly-type 'gaunlet' being wielded about here lads ! ! I'll have to get me' Lead Boots out and get 'meself one of them little tickets ! ? ! [but, I'm only showin' it if it's at least 1mph/.1secs better ! !] As I said to Dom', at least if I'm goin' in a straight line I shouldn't be able to throw it through any 'fences' Fat S. (seriously, I've always fancied a go up a 'strip'.... never even done it on me' bikes ? ?)

mmmmmm...... THEN you can change the Stereo to match the Dash, OR, the Dash to match the Stereo ! ! (and both to match the mood you're in !) NOW, how can we do the same to the EXTERIOR ? (TVR-type paint with a controller knob ? ?) Fat S.

You're not alone John, I'm missing one of the auto'box LEDs and the O/D OFF LED ! ! I sometimes knock the O/D off by accident and takes me a couple of minutes to think "mmm....engines' revving a bit today.....DOH!" Fat S.

quote from Supra Pilot: I can vouch for this 'erbert's claim........ I had to reset my 'way-of-driving' to keep up with 'im in my TT ! I think mine's got more VERY top-end (165*** indicated VERY easily, with what feels like lots to come !) BUT, acceleration/low-end the 'NON-LAG' in the N/A seems to make up for the lack of 'upper-end' power ? ! ? { OR...........I may be a complete WOOS of a driver } REALISTICALLY, the N/A probably isn't ANY slower on normal roads ? (just hasn't got the Turbo 'feel' - personal choice ?) Gramps-Fat S.

That USED to be, if you had a Soldering Hand free ! ! How times change....... Fat S. (ps. mine's still OK so far Pete - tested Fuel-Cut/De-limiter/speedo conversion up to ~ind' 165*** Sunday....... Only my underpants broke down 'Under Load' ! !) (pps. I'm DETERMINED to squeeze my hand up under the dash and reach the Cruise Control box to '5:8' the signal but it's a tight bl**dy cranny - 75*** is just not enough for cruise, you need ~80/90 to be really useful)

and is yours a Jap' Spec, Will ? ? (AND, has it got 'plastic' or 'glass' headlights ?) The 9005 and 9006 have both got bigger 'tags' that won't go in my plastic/Jap' sockets....(as I said, the 9006 has gone in by filing one tag down, but, the 9005 has a larger 'base' seal for some reason). [have you replaced the dip or the high beams ?] Fat S.

Nice one Martin, That proves it's THERE... Funny diagram though, it's like a micro-fiche, but, it doesn't 'line-up' each piece with where it goes ? ! ? Somewhere on the Near-Side of the block (near the oil filter housing ?) I'll have a look when I'm next under 'me bonnet. GO FOR IT DIL . . . . .
-
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE THE OIL PRESSURE 'SWITCH' IS SITUATED ? ? ?
-
sorry Dil ! ? don't know what happened there, the pic was 'gobble-de-gook' ? I've just re-up-loaded it - try the link again... (just tried it - seems OK now ?) [ps. today I actually LOOKED at my warning lights..... YES Orange LEVEL Light, and, Red PRESSURE Light ] Fat S.

I'll keep you updated on the 'Blue-Bulb' saga.... if I try them. AND, I WILL tell the truth about if they're brighter, or NOT ! None of this "OH, YEAH THEY'RE FANTASTIC MATE - A MILLION TIMES BRIGHTER".......they're either better, or, they're not ! ! [The 130W IS a lot brighter - BUT I would not expect anyone else to risk the obvious possible side-effects. ] [ I did have 130/90W H4's and 130W driving lights on my RS Turbo - No problems, although the glass was miles from the bulbs ! - but the light on high beam (520W FULL, PLUS 180W 'DIP' if 'flashed' !) WAS a tad brighter ...luverly.. BUT when you 'flashed' at idle the thing almost stalled with the load on the alternator ! ! ] Fat S.
-
I don't, for one ! ? (though I'm not too worried. I'll try it - if 'worst' happens I'll probably try to get some new UK units anyway) I won't be using the fogs for normal night driving, only down darker roads/dull weather etc. BUT, I know what you're saying Phil, it's always a risk with high-wattage bulbs....glass/alternator/fuses etc. It IS a slight risk ! (I just LOVE brighter lights - and can't afford the Discharge Units !) ALTHOUGH, now I've seen a MEASURABLE improvement in these 'blue'-y peanut bulbs I may 'down-rate' to normal wattage but the blue type ! I had SERIOUS doubts that any of the silly blue bulbs would work (I've seen LOTS of the rainbow/coloured ones - even TRIED one - it was duller than the ordinary one ! ! !) but now, some seem to actually work...a bit. Fat S.
-
Just went to try in dark. side-light (peanut) fair bit 'whiter' than ordinary one:thumbs: fog-light (H3 - 130W) MUCH brighter:thumbs: , but, need to double check that not TOO high (tomorrow). UK high-beam ('bodged'!) seems to match Jap one for aim + brightness (even though 65W instead of 55W - not much different I suppose) ------------------- tomorrow will see if UK high-beam can/will fit dip-beam (should be reflector which 'aims' ?) and put other H3(130W) and other peanut in. Fat S. [ "so far, so bodged ! ]

Another pic, this time wiring pic of warning lights. Try clicking on link below and tell me if it works ? Click here to visit the album on imira.com. The LEVEL sensor = the left end is the 'float' in the sump (IN the oil!), the right end is the 'switch' and will be on the outside of the block (poking THROUGH the side - left side by looks of it ?) it's a simple on/off when the float drops below a certain level. Fat S.
-
Just found this in my pics.... (NB. this is LEVEL, not PRESSURE... sure there's a PRESSURE switch - I'll keep looking, got me thinking about MINE now ! ! ? ?)
-
No, sorry, haven't got to that one yet... (sounded like I knew what I ws talking about before - sorry:music: ) Someone else will be on here later that DOES know where it is / what it looks like. I may 'troll' through the electrical pics on mkIV.com later and see where it's located (if no0one says by then !) YES, always screws in engine (block/head/ or oil-pump housing etc) Fat S. [once found it should be easy to test - pull off wire, when earthed on engine should light as-if switch is tripped..... OR, it's earthed until the switch is tripped = ? ? ]
-
OOOHHH, you cheeky swine you... NO, no probs, that's just what this place is for... we each try bits and spread-it-around... NOW, who's "TRIED" THIS bit before ? ?
-
How many of you Jap' Speccers have replaced dip or main beam bulbs ? ? ? Mine haven't actually blown, but, I have just been out to try to match-up UK bulbs. The UK ones - 9005 and 9006 - are VERY similar, but, both have slightly different shape edge 'tags' to the jap (361 and 362 ?) I managed to 'alter' the 1 tag on the high-beam UK and it fits OK in the holder (will have to wait till later to check beam ?) BUT, the UK dip beam bulb has a much bigger 'seal' circle and I don't think I can get that one to fit ! ? [also changed 1 side light - the peanut 5w capless - and 1 fog bulb - just an ordinary H3 - put a Philips 5w 'blue' in = noticably brighter even in daylight - and a 130w H3 = NEED I SAY.....! ...only changed 1 High-beam to see difference] WHAT HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE/FOUND ? ? ? [OR, where do you buy, and how much, the Jap bulbs ? ?] Fat S

Faulty Oil Switch/Sender.... EASY (expensive part ?) Break in wiring/loom.... HARD (even MORE expensive - labour) Not having a working oil light (level OR pressure) is one of the MOST common reasons why cars are towed into our place with sha**ed engines ! ! ! (*) I'd get it checked/sorted ASAP ! I know the Soop is pretty reliable and we don't hear of too many oil-pump problems.......BUT ! ! Mind you, even when they ARE working :- "I saw the little red light on in Southampton, but I didn't know what it was, so I ONLY drove back to Romford. Then it started making a funny noise ?" [actual words from one lady customer - Fiesta HCS so not too dear ! just 2nd-hand crank and bearings - LUCKILY] Fat S. (* Timing Belt failure being number one ! ! ! )

Mine's for the mkIV too 'ed' - sorry........ I'm sure SOMEONE here has a mkIII manual ? ? Fat S.

Matt, what Phil wanted to know was HOW yellow the bulbs needed to be ...... pale yellow -------- orange-y -------- dark amber You're right of course LOADS of 'em have clear indicators as standard, or as after-market but they all have 'readily'-available orange bulbs. Phil's size bulb doesn't appear to come in amber ? (OR, at least not easy to come by ?) Fat S.
-
[our one's just 'air'-dry - pretty good amber, but found 2 coats to be a better 'deepness'....Fat S]
