Been surprised at the low cost of Mercs - just can'tfigure out what's what so I think I'll hang out for a later spec (twin headlight) GS.

Cheers mate - not actually driven one yet. TBH I'm not even certain I wanna get one yet! Just that it seems like pretty much my only option - RDW, 4dr, Jap, decent engine, not 'chav'. Briefly considered BMs but can't live with the image. Mercs are a possibility but I know feck-all about them.

Being 'directed' that way by the ballast I could happily be persuaded - it's the ballast you'd have your work cut out with:Pling: I just need to get a decent 'family' car. Being really honest, the Supe doesn't measure up to the requirements. Since it's knackered and I can't justify throwing more money at it I figured that a GS300 would be the next best thing - same lump as I'm now used to, more comfort for her and little one and reasonably priced these days. What I'm trying to work out is what bits I could transfer over from one car to the other - most importantly all my bling:Pling: (and of course my UK brakes/RX8 wheels). I'll be sticking up a post in the next few days once I've looked at a few other possibilities. On the plus side, the wife's father has just offered me his 90k miles Passat for free:blink: - keepers for a few months until the right car turns up.

Definitely not cheap I bought the LED sidelights and 3 sets of bulbs for the fogs, dips and main beams - all were their extreme white bulbs at something like £70 a pair - bloody good though (now replaced with HIDs)

Hey! I remember playing with carbs - got quite good at balancing multiple carb set-ups :) The first thing we used to do was fit larger jets and a free flow filter for more fuel/air in. I too would be interested in the costs involved in fitting TBs to an N/A. I assume one would need a mappable fuel computer to make the most of them?

coz when the tank's full the car weighs more so you drive slower. Half empty it and things are lighter so it's play time (more pedal to the metal) :) LOL

Or do both I managed to paint a fair bit of mine graphite grey before I stuck the kit in - gives a much nicer backing than the dull black

I got a carbon dash set off ebay last year (my first 'mod' ) - cost about £100. Looks great (IMHO) - a nice genuine carbon weave with a thick, glossy cover. I did have a slight problem with some parts lifting in the height of the summer - soon fixed with superglue :)
