  1. If this was a manual, it wouldn't be £5k!

    Tyre Insurance

Hmm - wonder how this works. It would be all too easy to "puncture" a £150 tyre just around the time it needs replacing. If it means you can get 2 £150 tyres per year for a £99 premium, then either: a) your premiums are going to go through the roof come renewal b) your policy is going to get cancelled or, most likely c) the fine print means that it doesn't cover most situations

    write off

Hmmmm. So if, say, the insurance company offered you £5k for the write off, you buy it back for about £2k and spend £1k on the repairs. You're now £2k down. With the car on a Cat D, it's probably worth about £2k less, and future insurance premiums are going to be higher. Yep - sums come up negative. What if you're not planning to sell it on? If you keep the car and drive it to it's deathbed (or to another write-off!). Doesn't that negate the £2k reduction in value, and therefore make write-off/buy back a viable option?
  4. This morning I come onto the website and hit the "New Posts" button. On the first page now are THREE threads about stacked Supras. Please pay heed to this, everyone - it's really started getting cold and wet out there in the last few weeks. Ease off with that right foot!!!
  5. Pretty sure I've seen other red ones - I saw another (late one - #190something) a while back and I think that was a red one. lol - unfortunately, the one for sale there, #115, is not quite there - whilst I would probably settle for it, my real dream car would have to be an Evo version - unfortunately, the only Evo's up for sale at the moment all seem to be (a) in the US and (b) in to 6 figures!
  6. I'm intrigued. Apart from the Adventure Golf high score, which looks impossible and the Tetris scores, which I don't understand the huge difference in scale (but would be happy to believe if someone just explained to me...), most of the scores seemed feasible to me last time I looked (it's been a while, mind).
  7. Oh man - still my number one car right there. Ooooo - what I'd do to get my hands on an RS200!!! :o
  8. If you can afford to insure and run it (and you trust your self-control moving to a high power RWD just as the wet weather's coming) definitely stretch to a TT.
  9. What are you planning to use it for? TV? HD Sky or SD Recorded Media? VHS / DVD / HD-DVD / Blu-Ray Consoles? XBox/PS2 or 360/PS3 PC?

For a stock SZ, don't be surprised if the first offer comes back as low as 2 or 3k. Sky should be pretty good at reaching an reasonable agreement, though - start having a look at similar cars on Autotrader and Pistonheads and see if you can't find a few similar examples to yours at higher prices.

Sorry to hear it mate. I guess even an N/A is a big jump from a Polo. Who did you insure with in the end?
  12. I've seen this happen a lot where the insurance is done over the phone. If the MkIV import that you are trying to describe to them does not appear on the list that they see on their screens, after a bit of trying to explain to them what the difference is, they just give up and stick it in as the MkIII, which they do have the option for. They don't really care whether it's right or not, because it's still YOUR responsibility to check it when the documents come through. Even if you've explained everything to the person on the phone, if they put the details in wrong and you fail to check it, it's still YOUR fault, and your insurance will be void. So don't accept the word of the call centre operator (especially a problem in India, btw, where the "yes-man" culture is commonplace) - they might just be fobbing you off with a MkIII insurance just to get the deal done!
  13. A friend of mine has a stock '99 Z3 M. With 325bhp (ie. more than a stock TT Supra even at full stock boost - 0.7ish?) and 1340Kg kerb weight (ie. less than a stock TT Supra), it is quicker than a stock TT. From 80 upwards, there's not a whole lot in it, but from a standing start, the BMW is easily quicker. It's a NA afterall. You need BPU to beat an M-Coupe IMHO.
  14. I take it you're not on stock J-Spec brakes, then?
  15. Ali G's very first interviews from the Eleven O'Clock Show, when he was interviewing people who didn't know it was a p*ss take, were absolutely brilliant (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOZlJiOvXsU). The first few interviews in the USA were pretty good too for the same reason, but after he became famous it kind of defeated the whole point. Should have stopped at that point.
  16. As it says at the end of that article: That's it.
  17. Not convinced that ignorance is a legitimate excuse!!!
  18. My answer would be: A poem is just words (not sure if the actual enunciation is part of the definition, or just the words themselves). A song is a musical composition (ie. it also defines the tune) which includes a vocal part (which may not actually be words!).
  19. To try and pick some different ones: Clerks Mallrats Clue ...and some gore comedy! Braindead Black Sheep Meet The Feebles ...but more subtle comedy is usually my sort of thing: Barcelona Simple Men Amateur Sideways Happiness Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead
  20. In that case..... forgiven. Some of the things that I am guilty of whilst.....errr...."excited".... are probably illegal.
  21. Shame on the £60 fine though, you could have put that towards some english lessons.
  22. For people planning to use their Supra's (or Aristo's! ) over the winter who don't have experience of skid control, I can't recommend finding a skid-control advanced driving course enough. For just £100 or so, take your car out with an instructor who'll teach you stuff which may just save you from stacking your £10k car!
  23. Enough Aristo-owning Ben's already!!! (hi, btw) ben.
