  1. Because despite all these stories which you keep hearing, people carry on using the service. You must have seen all the horror stories which have come up before, no? There's whole websites dedicated to people who've been screwed by PayPal. The number of people even on this website who've reported being done by them is probably into double figures. Personally, I wouldn't touch PayPal with a bargepole. Yet people carry on ignoring all the bad press and keep using the service. I bet despite your post, there's plenty of readers here thinking, "well - I've never had a problem with them". And they'll carry on thinking that..... until they're the one who gets caught out.

    I Phone

    Depends what mood she's in
  3. So I see! Cool. It's only with this topic that I've gone back to look at Plasma's. Shame the PZ70 is 42" - that's a bit too big for me Good standard-def and black blacks AS WELL AS 1080p would be sweet. AND that's a damn sight cheaper than the Bravia 3500 I'm looking at. If you go with the trial, please let us know what you think!
  4. True, true. 24fps is certainly on my checklist of required features in a new TV, so I'm hoping it does make a difference too!
  5. Yeah - the Aquos is not 24fps, but I don't think it would make that difference to the "graininess" of the image, would it? It just means that at 50hz, you get one frame displayed for slightly longer, no?
  6. Love me live music! Over the last few years: Jack Penate Black Rebel Motorcycle Club The Cooper Temple Clause The Fratellis The Streets Maroon 5 (did I just admit to that? ) Razorlight The Maccabees Madder Rose Billy Bragg The Blue Aeroplanes (several times! ) Idlewild Snow Patrol Gomez Sleater-Kinney Bloc Party Fountains of Wayne Belle and Sebastian The Lovers Spiritualized Flaming Lips Clearlake And also some of my old favourites reforming: Ned's Atomic Dustbin Inspiral Carpets (seeing them again in March!) Flowered Up Northside Pop Will Eat Itself Bis Silver Sun Frank & Walters Sultans Of Ping The Breeders Probably plenty others I've forgotten too! oh - and a few visits (not for a few years now, tho) to Glasto and Reading festies, of course! Most memorable sets including Prodigy, Blur, Bob Dylan, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Charlatans, etc. etc. BUT NO CARTER :(
  7. Some of these shows are getting pretty ridiculous in terms of who are "celebrities". I remember seeing one (might have been the ice skating one?) where one of the "celebrities" was actually just one of the regular people from another celebrity/reality show (possibly one of the professional dancers from the dancing one?).
  8. I have a Maxi Cosi Tobi and that fit okay in the back of the Supra. The woman at Mothercare couldn't actually get it in (it was funny to watch her try and wrestle it in there), but with a bit of manouvering, I managed it just fine. After you get the trick of doing up the seatbelt first, it was a doddle!
  9. Same reason we're not allowed to partake in 101 other risky activities these days. Because if the authorities condone (or, worse still even, organise) them, the first person to crash and injure themselves will probably sue the government for a 7-figure sum. Blame the legal system, the ambulance-chasers and the greedy scum that they prey on, who won't take responsibility for their own actions.

    £1000.00 Road Tax

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7088711.stm This is a proposed tax increase. It is also intended to be a purchase tax (ie. one-off payment for new cars or excise on new imports), not annual vehicle duty, by the looks of it.
  11. Plasma is generally better for standard definition TV (especially with sports & motion) and 1080i HD. Personally, I'm getting an LCD over a Plasma because I want 1080p (for PC, PS3, X-Box 360, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray).
  12. Also - it's worth thinking about getting a force-feedback steering wheel to play it with too - the force feedback is quite well implemented so you get a really good feel for the grip that you get.
  13. Bah - it's only cheap because the steering wheel is round. Put a proper square one on and you can add a '0' to the price! :D
  14. My normal lunch is a stick of celery, a lump of cucumber, a tomato and piece of fruit. That's it. High blood pressure and slow metabolism sucks. Although Friday is normally a pint and a sandwich at the pub (from where I have just returned!).
  15. Yeah - they start off pretty poor, but the AI for them will actually learn from watching your driving style which is quite cool. Note, however, that LFS, whilst being my favourite driving game, is definitely 100% simulation (a la Forza) rather than arcade fun.
  16. I played the first one quite a bit. As far as I recall, the single player stuff was all just against the clock.
  17. For baby seats, we had an Urban Detour rear-facing infant seat until 9 months old - that fit in behind the passenger seat okay - you have to move it forward a bit, though. After that we got a Maxi Cosi Toby front-facing seat. That fit fine in the back too.
  18. Personally, I believe that the spelling and grammar is poor on this forum because we don't pick up enough on eachothers mistakes. What we need to do is highlight any errors with an immediate and scathing response. People will be ashamed and embarassed into improving their posts. Can't see anything going wrong with that plan at all.
  19. I kept mine until Adam reached about 1yr old. Whilst there's enough room for the baby seat and you could also fit a folded-up 3-wheel buggy in the boot, you won't fit anything else in. Don't expect to be able to take baby and buggy down to the shops and come back with a week of shopping.
  20. Well, I'm pretty pi**ed about the gig too. Seeing as we decided to take my mates sh*theap b*stard 911, which decided to give up on us and leave us stranded out in the bl**dy cold on the A3 all evening instead of getting to jump around to Carter for the last time ever B*LLOCKS! I'm...errr...quite upset about the whole incident, in case you weren't sure.

    Stolen Supra

    About 30 seconds for a top-end system, I believe.
  22. Yeah - you can get priority display on Google by (a) manipulating the website content to tailor it to Google's prioritisation checks or (b) paying Google for advert space. There are 1,000,001 "Web Marketing" companies out there who will help you with the first option, and also re-sell the advertising space to you if you let them. So make sure you shop around if you're really interested. Alternatively, and my recommendation if your at least a little bit web-savvy is have a quick go at the first one yourself. There are plenty of websites out there and even books you can buy which can explain simple changes you can make to your site to improve its ranking in the Google results. There are a few complexities in there, like ranking based on "incoming" links, which are hard to manipulate yourself (this is where a marketing company may help by finding other high-visibility websites which can link in to yours), but a lot of the stuff you can do to improve your ranking is pretty straightforward. Have a quick search and you'll find plenty of sites out there with some tips and pointers.
  23. I thought that at 130 upwards, the spoiler starts to generate a bit of downforce up to maximum of about 60lb. Although I seriously doubt that anyone is going to be any sort of driving at 130+ that actually requires any extra rear-end downforce anyway - so it's pretty damn near 100% safe just to think of the decision as a cosmetic one.
