  1. All depends on what other styling mods you have. I tried on some flush covers that made the car look like it had quad headlights, looked awful but on the pic with a fully kitted Supe in white they looked ok and like real lamps, on my silver car with std front end.......... say no more Eyebrows only appear to go well with certain kits and colours, Fitting is easy just use a really good automotive double sided tape Try them on if you don't like the look you can always put them back on ebay .. Don't be afraid to experiment in personalising your car
  2. Keep a look out for a Orange RX7 feature car.. my mate Kirk Should be in the next month or so, he did the shoot about 2 mths ago It will be his 2nd car JP have featured.. lucky bugger.. Tried to get my copy today of JP must get that Subscription sorted..
  3. Exactly , The term i have been surrounded by for years, to describe a style and used by personal buyers out in Japan simple...
  4. JDM style is a term that has been used for 13 yrs (my time) in the jap import industry because they come from the Jap domestic market and the look has simply come about from the the way the cars arrive here.. hence the term Basically .. read it as you wish. this is simply a term used to describe cars that arrive with all the bits and peices on Its not set in stone just a simple a term used to identify a style. The Jap car scenre love their spoilers/ graphics etc etc Drift car look another term same as but just describes a style What a load of aggro over nothing. a simple term used and we have a major debate..
  5. We created J Spec not JDM ..... So have *you* quite finished trying to be smart and make someone else look silly, when clearly the term is not understood So rather than actually trying to have a pop and a person .....stick with the thread blimey and its taken 5 pages before we go off thread.. and start on the person must be a record ........
  6. ????????????? Damn i've started typing again.. LOL!!! Another £5 ................ Note to myself . Exit this thread :taped:
  7. {Quote} Look at the '69 Dodge Charger Daytona - is that a "US Style" car or simply a car aimed at a particular market that has then been modified for looks or performance reasons? If it was released today would it be JDM Style because it has a big spoiler? A 69 dodge charger (Dukes of Hazzard car ?) " would have the tag of "American muscle car" a simple common term used for big cc American cars but not used in the same context as JDM as to my knowledge the US don't have terms for their internal car mrkets as do the Japanese To be JDM it would have to be Jap not US, This is a waste of time.. trying to explain why the term JDM is used, and has been used since the import boom started, We'll re- write the import history books and say the JDM term used between 1993 - 2006 was simply a myth........... I blame myself for keep getting drawn into this.. and should have dropped out about 4 pages ago when it was blatantley obvious that the term is not understood on here at all, but seen as some chav word .............
  8. The term is used only as they come over usually looking a they do due the car culture over there. Simply that, That is where the JDM term has come from
  9. You are entitled to your opinion as much as the next man, 13 years later and i think you'll find i know what JDM means I was doing this long before i had a Supra and joined a club
  10. You have hit the nail on the head, JDM term has been exploited with the Halfords type of parts and used to try and create something We buy Jap domestic cars as they usually always have the interesting bits on already when we buy them , usually thats the reason we buy them , if not why buy Jap. you'd by the UK equivelent with nothing on it e.g Evos etc with their huge wings, they were built for a market This is quite funny that when you use the correct term JDM for grey imports everyone seems to think its something wrong and chav, But you are all driving (J)APANESE (D)omestic (M)arket cars Its the simple and correct term for them Grey Import is usually the term not liked which goes back to when imports first started to arrive and they were seen as "a grey" area to insurance co's etc hence that is where the "Grey" import term came from So to please everyone would it be better to say you have a nice "grey" import car there?? Its just a term and the correct one at the end of the day The JDM style term is used as promdominently the cars purchased usuall ycome with all the bits the Japs put on them as they are so into their car culture, A car is classed as a status symbol hence why the are so immaculate Interesting input guys and amazing how so many people react to the correct term for your import I think this has been flogged to death now , It goes back to what was said at the beginning a pointless thread as you will always get someone who likes something and those who don't, Just be fair though, 1 owner has a fully kitted car with Neons , paintjob and all the other stuff and you all say cool Someone else puts a Spoiler or a few graphics on in a much smaller scale and its Chav mobile A bit hipocritical Just let people do what they want,
  11. Both cool cars But thats great mate ......... who have shown the differences Std british Supra with nothing, yet JDM model will more than likely come with skirts and anything else they can possibly bolt on it, big exhausts out there are the usual favourite Very rarely will you see a totally stand car, Most come with Induction kits , exhaust pipes at the very least Figarro is classic JDM retro.. Based on a Micra and with a Turbo The Japanese do not except bland cars like we get in the UK, Hence why they all come with all the styling goodies, Turbos , Climate , ICE systems, TV's
  12. good points, But if you have a Jap import you have JDM car. the specs are to Japanese domestic market Gamers car is fantastic and I am most certainly not knocking it , "real workmanship" don't get me wrong, you cannot fault that car a real testiment to hard work What we are saying is why are some people cars called chav yet another fully modded and kitted car isn't when basically you have done the same thing All imports come from the JDM market, which is why we buy them They come kitted and with all the extras, if they were the same as the UK we wouldn't bother, thats what makes them interesting... Its a shame we can't bring in more of their markets cars due to Model Reports and there are some really interesting cars out there. Take the Glanza, 1.3turbo Starlet, cracking little car but was only availlble in the JDM market. we got the crappy no fun version over here Again a little car with some wild bodystyling and a Turbo too Now if you put a bodykit on a starlet over here you'd be accused of chaving the car Hypicritical The modifying scene has been around forever and will continue so .. Its just a shame this "trendy" word chav is spoiling it
  13. Trouble is with threads like these and you'd probably agree they go nowhere What one thinks looks great another dislikes.. You could say carbon bonnets are chav.. Very 70's look, People had black bonnets back then on Capris, Its all about what "you" like on your car Any styling kit you could say Chav.. Pointless debate really Just enjoy your car and do what you like there will always be someone who either likes or dislikes what you have done. I've seen some fantastic kitted cars spoilt by garish coloured interiors, But spoilt in my opinion not others... Think that sums it up
  14. mmmm see what you mean Not clear there I've been Involved with imports for 13 years but involved in the organised meets for 5- 6 years God you don't miss a trick Nic do you!!! LOL!!!! Remind me of my old English Teacher
  15. I agree If people don't want a chav or JDM supra just buy ( if you can find one) a bog standard one That includes big exhausts everything.. Using this term Chav is out of context because every mod you could say is chav... dashing painting etc etc At the end of the day its other people trying to bully their own personal opinions on others, but anything they have on their own car or best mates car is ok ........ This can go on forever what is hot and what is not, Can't beleive i've been drawn into this I understand what the JDM look is ... So thats it folks from me, have put in my input Interesting read though
  16. Great will you be in yours or Sabrinas, I've known you nearly 2 years i think now.............. and not once have i ever seen your Supra clean... ever ... ever!! So if you are going in your car ( crank depending ) yes wash the bloody car!!!!! :rlol: p.s Dont forget to book in !!!! Text Claire unless Lui has already done it for you .
  17. Anyone modifiying their car and adding non standard parts have therefore created the classic JDM look. Although your taste looks like it is to keep the car stylish with an agressive look and go for big power with the Single Turbo fitting a larger non standard TRD Spoiler and such like and all the other Jap parts were originally for the JDM market not UK, So when the market grew over here and US for example the Parts have then found there way out of Japan and gone world wide as there was huge money to be made, So really anything non standard falls in to JDM territory if that is where it has originated from to begin with ....... Although over the years the US has produced tuning and styling parts for the Supe as well I agree with you though I have seen some horrendous Bodykits and fins and such like on cars and MPV's, The Japs certainly have "interesting tastes" to say the least
  18. You could just buy a NA and be done with it they never let you down, reliable as a switch watch:p :p Sorry couldn't resist, (not often we NA owners get to put the boot in for a change) no offence intended Sounds like you are having a real run of bad luck, hopefully you'll be up and running soon, and at least you have the right guys looking after you.........and that means a lot
  19. Mine did too this morning.............. Once i got in the bloody thing What is it with every bloody import i've owned, first sight of a frost and the locks freeze and the doors weld themselves to the door rubbers
  20. :rlol: See it crept up without you noticing Some ( the outsiders from the darkside ) reckon us Jap enthuiasts are a new breed of Train spotter......... with all this discussion on boost levels , Turbo types etc etc Philistines!!! what do they know ........ Train Spotters indeed..

My mate has had about 7 Skylines now, imported most himself and quite a few R34GTR Strangely he always go back to the R33GTR as that is supposed to be the best (although many will probably say the R32 was) He is currently selling his R33GTR with the view to build a 1000bhp R32 road car... Anyway, He isn't short of a few bob and lived his child hood dream and bought a 911 Turbo, Well to quote him.. the 911 was biggest pile of shit he had ever owned and he was so disapointed he sold it 6 weeks later at a huge loss, He put the £70k into his current R33 GTR and what a manificent car it is, AS IT STANDS ITS A £90K Skyline...........madness
  22. If you love your Supra ... have no intention of buying british ever again, but who'd want to Go to all the meets , belong to the clubs, Spend a fortune over the year on the Mags and are passionate about imports and the Motorsport side of it as well Drifting, Time attack etc etc ... i reckon you just maybe into the Jap Scene ... without realising it ha ha ;)
