  1. I think facelifts probably work well, the only reservation IMHO is on a black car where that grey seems to look a bit dull whereas the silver is a good contrast. I'm 50/50 myself (have a black car) but like gazboy says I'll probably put the money to performance mods firstly anyway

hey well you might be lucky and have it done in 5 minutes including a coffee break, be optimistic
  3. Well I would be interested in it for sure! I'm planning to do some of the basics (fuel pumps etc) to get my car ready so that if I want to go for the big single, everything else is up to the job. I take it your kit would be based on something like the ebay one, maybe with some specific alterations to make its application to the 2jz-gte a bit easier?

lol, you might well be lucky, either way its not the end of the world, but it makes a 5 min job a whole lot longer when they are so stubborn. so thanks for the help everyone PS: Magicmatty, it might be worth you getting some new screws as well (only cheap from Mr T) before you start, just in case you mash the old ones up.

I tried posi and philips type screw drivers, had the right size in both types, these screws were tight with a capital T. Glad you didn't have any trouble carlos, I wasn't expecting any, but thats the way things go. Maybe yours had been out before or you had the later screw type, either way the stubord screws I had wouldn't budge regardless. The slot I cut enabled me to use a large flat screwdriver which gave much more purchase than possible with the cross head. I'm thinking if I ever have to do that job again then an impact driver (used with caution) would be the best way to go, sods law I couldn't find mine when I needed it...

The old original style screws are "crappy drive"! I selected the right screwdriver but no matter how hard I pushed they wouldn't grip enough and the screw head ended up getting mashed up as usual! The replacement screws are of a decent design, don't think I'll have that problem again. Small job but worth doing if you've got any rattles from the back.

    Boot rubbers

I ordered mine with a new aerial mast too, fitted it today, easy enough. Did your price match mine? Price of rubbers up there and the aerial was £31.27.

    Boot rubbers

Oops, no sorry, I did order them in advance from the local Toyota parts dept. Took a few days. Can't complain for the price though, would have had to wait longer if i got them from Ebay anyway!!

    Boot rubbers

Just to let you know, went to Toyota today and got my replacement boot rubbers for £2.77 each. Was suprised because on Ebay, for the exact same thing (even in the toyota bags) they were selling them for £10 each!!! These are the rubbers that stop the tailgate rattle! Part number : T67293-14051 for anyone else that needs them!

Thanks for the advice, success at last, the rubbers were cut away, ended up having to use a hacksaw to cut a slot and then used a flat head screwdriver to get them out. Glad I got new screws with them!!

Some help needed! I'm trying to change the boot rubbers and nothing... i mean nothing, has been able to the budge the bloomin' screws!!! Any advice???
  17. its possible that you've got some play in the wheel bearing OR a bent half shaft (seems unlikely) ?
  18. Not even slightly interested in agreeing to any discount, nice place though, offer you coffee and biscuits and there is a play area and PS2 'for the kids' with gran turismo!
  19. I saw another in Crawley today at 4:10 I was at the chip shop, I am in Burgess Hill but i had to go to Toyota Crawley today. Was also checking out what the access was like to tesco (the one with the 99RON) for future ref!
  20. Crawley today, owners running into a blinds shop in the pouring rain! Nice Supe!
  21. Thanks, might try it today, never used the one in Crawley before so wish me luck! The bloke on the phone wqas helpful, so who knows!
  22. Thanks for the links, will try this for my next order, the order with my local wasn't really a big'un so not to worry. Thanks again.
  23. I'm off to Toyota today to pick up some bits and ill be asking for other bits and bobs, i notice some of you get discount at Toyota... can i ask how you do it?!
  24. This is an excellent thread, I'm really impressed that such a cheap kit from ebay can be so effective (even if some creative engineering is needed!). I'd love to go this route, but simply don't have the courage (never done one before, guess once you have done one then it becomes much less scary). Would anyone hazard a guess at the cost of getting this kit installed? Gregsupra, ever you considered starting a sideline business installing these? You might get a fair few customers I expect!
