I get these black spots too, on the stainless wheel lips and the exhaust. The ones on the exhaust are the worst, rock hard they are. Autosol or Meguiars NXT All Metal Polysh works (eventualy) but Ive found that protecting the surface first cuts down the build up of these black deposits a lot.

Thats Tartan not Burberry:) Good sentiment there re the kids and stopping smoking Steve. Not sure if you know, but the kids have flown, daughters 21 in a couple of weeks, sons almost 20. When they were around, we smoked in another room, or outdoors (usually:innocent: ) but now they live away it opened the flood gates as it were....I stopped for loads of reasons, one of them was wanting to be around to see my kids KIDS grow up, so you are on the button. Just down to Wifelet now, but nowt doing so far. BTW, is it possible to put a stone on in 12 days due to not smoking ?

I stick mainly off-road now, loads of good single-track and forest nearby, but to get there I need to use the main roads and....I admit to using the pavements now and again if they on main roads and are clear of pedestrians. I dont go out when its dark, I've no need to. My bike weighs close to 50lbs as it is, lights would be the last straw.

When I put my new (OEM) dash in recently, I spent a lot of time vacuuming all the crap / dirt out from under and behing the panels, and I cleaned all the switches dials and ashtray etc. Its all like new now, and a great incentive NOT to have a sly one on the way to work in the car. As my wife smokes, theres always fags lying around, and I have picked up the odd packet without thinking along with my keys in the mornings. Its hard.

Thats a good point O R type one. But if you bought one next year, could you stomach owning a goddamn ugly car for the next 9 years ?
