  1. JamieP pointed me to this thread yesterday and..... well, thanks everyone for the kind words i'm gobsmacked. JamieP do you know that when you left the centre and floored it, your tyres moved the entire park an inch north ..... I'm so pleased you heeded my advice to take it easy on the new calibration and the R888's in the wet
  2. When lowered the camber will have a static gain but this is affordable if the coil rate is higher since there will be less dynamic gain.
  3. Satudays are fine... As you know fine-tunes are free but you still need to book in....
  4. Sorry you've been having trouble contacting me. I am in the finishing stages of opening wim's new centre in Hemel Hempstead. Currently i am using another companies equipment until i am fully open. Details can be found here> http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk in contacts.
  5. tdi-south will have the wim franchise compliant machine this month matt. This is especially good news for your 'driffty' since it can measure toot and bump steer up to 60 degrees. Combine this calibration with the corner weighting (indexing) the cars absolute c.o.g then it's happy days all round. And although i don't work at tdi i will come up and set the driffty for you if you want?
  6. I leave the centre on the 8th June.... But then operating from a wim trusted centre in Hemel.
  7. Definitely no.... One reason 'distance' a 100mile round trip each day is not for me.
  8. I am changing centres in three weeks time and compressing my calibrations to two or three days a week so i can concentrate on finding a permanent wim home. Scary stuff since i have been at STS for 25yrs......
  9. We do fit suspension.. The wider wheels do have specific Geometric considerations. This is not a problem for me!
  10. I am moving location, although by June i should be well settled.
  11. Why are you concerned about the wider wheels?
  12. I am moving from my current centre soon and will be able to accomendate the wide/low club. Surj's car was a real eyeopener since he previously paid good money for calibration and was dealt a disastrous set-up making the car undrivable. I didn't think this sort of deal still happened our there.....
  13. Thank you for the kind words Supra_Surj. Your cars condition was odd! We could see by eye what angles were incorrect... Nsr had 18mm toe in Osr had -2d 40 camber Osf had 0 castor Plus discrepancies in all the other angles. I really felt sorry for you because it was evident that the condition was due to poor workmanship in past calibrations. The Nsr toe adjuster was set at it's maximum positive.... The Osr camber adjuster bolt was undone and the Osf castor adjuster was compliant so the 0 position was pure negligence on the technicians behalf. Good news was that the chassis was totally compliant allowing for 100% calibration recovery. This made my job simple but more importantly gave you back what had been denied in the cars handling. See you in 2000 miles for the free fine-tune.
  14. It is easy to correct the Camber positions... What is difficult is establishing new positions if they deviate from stock since most shops are scared to perform in this arena.... Are you retaining stock positions or is there something more adventurous blogged into the setup?
  15. The 'aspect' ratio= the % of the tyres width, the reason the % is different front and rear is that the front 'turns' so there is a need to have a narrower tyre on the front with a higher 'ratio' than the rear so the circumference is nominal, this is quite normal..... move away from the factory % is not wise!... also there are geometry issues here! in the area of centrifugal force albeit small.
  16. Where? i have hit every link here and still no results......nice webby though mate!
  17. The 0'25 ( to ) -1 degree .05 is the 'dynamic' range, a 'static' 1.12' 1'22 is a tyre killer. Exlpination:- the suspension has an expected range allowed by the coil rate, this rate will deliver the 'dynamic' camber position assuming the camber is at its mid point position.... on bump -1 deg.05 max, off bump +25' min.... Take it back!
  18. The most common problem is that most places use the centre hole in the wheel as the dye mount on the balancer, this is wrong, the centre hole is cosmetic in position. the correct methode is to use a 'studed' plate that bolts the wheel to the balancer and mimics the mount on the car, this methode is exacting. second to 'on car' balance.
  19. Yes... geometry and all its theory is my area, from road to full drift.
  20. Yes, all things geometrical, throw them at me....
  21. Thanks...geometry and its angles is all i have to offer, how do you think i should i involve this area here?
  22. Thanks...lots to learn here i think!
  23. 'Hello'.. everyone?....my name is Tony Bones i know! somone had to have it!.. ( good fun in xray ) my field is Geometry, and Geometry theory and i would welcome any education within this area.
  24. Ok, give me a few days! i think i will get there......maybe
  25. Just want to say 'hello' and try to navigate this forum? There seems to be a wealth of information here, and a lot to learn!......cut to the chase my area is geometry.
