  1. If you mean how far does the spigot ring on the hub protrude from the face of the disc, then it's about 9mm - on the rears anyway. I would think the front will the same.
  2. It's obvious that you would like to work on your own car, but as I and others have said, you can't have doubts about the brakes. I also would suggest that you take it to a garage - or, if you prefer, get someone who knows exactly what they're doing to help and guide you (someone who can actually see and check the brakes over ).
  3. That crossed my mind also. If in doubt, get someone who's confident in working on brakes. A powerful car and poor/suspect brakes is a really bad combination! It probably doesn't really matter too much if you get your ICE wrong; brakes are another matter altogether...

  5. That pretty much sums it up for me, although TBH, I can't really see any point in a CF bonnet in the first place.
  6. The only way you'll find out for certain is to talk to the place who did the work. They'll probably say it's been OK for a few weeks, so it's just one of those things that happen... and yes, it'll need a replacement caliper.
  7. It's a pity I didn't see this sooner. I've a fairly decent TT standard back box doing nothing that I bought brand new under seven years ago; it's only done 16k miles or so. Oh well...
  8. £193.88 at Whifbitz is about as cheap as you're likely to find for the pulley - unless you want to take a chance on a secondhand one. As for changing it, it's fairly straight-forward - if you can get the bolt undone! If it's never been undone since new, then it may take a bit of budging.
  9. If it's a UK car then you'll have a Scorpion 5000 alarm fitted. Unfortunately it's probably in need of a factory reprogram, but they (Scorpion) no longer have the necessary equipment due to the alarm system being so old. There's some more info here.
  10. I can tell you for certain, Admiral with only pay out market value - give them a ring and check for yourself I think Admiral are great if you have a standard car - I was insured with them for many years. They just won't cover you at all for certain mods - if you declare them. If you don't declare them, then you could end up without the cover you thought you had.
  11. I agree, if it was a brand new retainer/fork/cradle (whatever you want to call it) with brand new OEM bushes, then I would possibly just put that in. The original rubber bushes on my car had done over 120k, but I can't in all honesty say that I really noticed any real difference with the aluminum bushes in place.
  12. Yes, the larger diameter of the new bushes go on the outside of the cradle and just use the original bolts.
  13. I used 2 sockets and a vice. 1st socket that'll just go through the bush hole in the cradle, and the 2nd one big enough that the old bush will fit inside the socket. Sandwich the cradle between the sockets within the vice jaws and slowly tighten the vice. The smaller socket pushes the old bush out into the large socket...
  14. Yes, that's right, it's self-bleeding. Now just watch the expansion tank over the next few days and keep it topped up to 'max'.
  15. There's no need to empty out what you've already put in. These systems are self bleeding. Just keep an eye on the expansion tank for a few days.
  16. Let it cool down, then fill it up very slowly squeezing the top hose every now and again. You'll probably get another litre in. It should be OK then.
  17. He's obviously got the upgrade bug! You can get them for just under £800 at Richer Sounds ...and possibly for a bit less elsewhere - with a bit of haggling.
  18. Sounds like it could be a Samsung.
  19. No you don't really, it's just a money making scheme - if you didn't know already! All decent security systems are self monitoring and will let you know one way or another if something's wrong. Changing batteries in key fobs every year or two is all you need to do.
  20. Sorry, I forgot it was the OP that only had the alarm installed 2 months ago. I know the Avantguard 5.5 uses a Clifford 650 MkII main alarm unit; I suspect the 5.1 may do also. I'll attach a pdf copy of the owner's manual for the Clifford 650 MkII. Concept 650 MkII OM .pdf
  21. Which model of Clifford is it? If it was professionally fitted then I think you should have really been given the user manual.
  22. Forward his e-mail to eBay as proof of what he's said to you. He should be kicked off the site.
  23. Admiral do only pay out market value and won't cover non-standard parts such as wheels, body kits, suspension etc etc. If your fancy after-market wheels get nicked you get nothing.
  24. I assume you don't have (or didn't mention) a boost controller then, or else Admiral wouldn't have insured you at all. Admiral don't insure cars with boost controllers...
