bolarbag
Hey folks Can people post up any pics you may have of stripped out interiors, or custom interiors....not really into mad speakers and tv's everywhere, something kinda original looking...even 'normal' I just took out my left arm rest(little storage box) and with my recaros being really low change the driving position completely! It feels good, I'm 6''3 mind It actually looks modern too, my only concern is the handbrake now looks completely out of place, think thats gonna need replacing so any custom/hydraulic handbrakes would be good too;) I'll need to get pics up but the gf has the camera just now and I'm trying to dodge her:p

grahamc
never did actually weigh the items, however there is a site (if you search, you can find it) that has al the standard weights for most items in the supra.
bolarbag
Guru:d So new someone was gonna post that, didnt have any time to edit! Yup mines is way more stripped than the first pics from Graham C...more like the first pic of the attachments;) I like the wrap around dash, but wouldnt mind re-designing the centre console, I'm keeping the centre part removed, so much better driving position, has no one done this yet? I'd just like some ideas, looking to remove as much weight as pos... How do you remove sound deadening? Heat gun? Elbow grease and Scraper? Cable
How do you remove sound deadening? Heat gun? Elbow grease and Scraper? That can be a royal pain in the butt! Some just breaks off without too much effort. I heat gunned some off in one of my old cars but that was quite painful, trying to pull off a molten tar like substance. I heard of someone else using dry ice, not that I know where to get that from.
bolarbag
Wouldnt have a clue where to get dry ice from either;) What about tar and glue remover:d Seriously...what is the substance in the tar and glue remover? At first I thought there wasnt a lot in the car but there is, probably save me a few hundred grams, but I want to get straight through so i can paint my bare metal

Kranz
http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/attachment.php?attachmentid=52721&d=1172612850 Graham, that seatbelt mount for the shoulder straps.... its not vertically down from the back of the seat is it? Needs to be at least 45 degrees or even better as close to horizontal as possible. I expect you were only trial fitting the seat and didn't actually mount the belt? bolarbag
Graham, that seatbelt mount for the shoulder straps.... its not vertically down from the back of the seat is it? Needs to be at least 40 degrees or even better as close to horizontal as possible. Yup agreed! Sparco or do luck do a harness bar if your not interested in a cage
Kranz
I'd go for a cage. So much more rigidity in the shell if a weld in cage is used and braced to the body & suspension mounts. Much better crash protection too

However I did have to give it as much slack as possible so I could fit all the boxes into the back of the car hybrids, rear spoiler, loads of other parts... Its actually mounted to the top mount of the rear seat belts (which are removed). However I do normally just use a seat belt anyway, so much simpler getting in and out...
