RICHARDA Posted November 30, 2007 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Had some herbert knock on the door yesterday saying he was from Southern Water and wanted to query a bill. Looked the part with the company fleece an all. Thankfully the wife deals with all this household bills malarkey and I was'nt able to help him. Got the wife to call Southern Water today as she has'nt queried anything. They told her to report the incident to the police which I have just done. What I find really annoying is that I normally always ask for ID or a name but this time I did'nt. I would of love to of got hold hold of the little fucker thou:) Anyone else had this? Kranz Posted November 30, 2007 Share Posted November 30, 2007 Always check ID. Actually take it from them & leave them outside while you call the phone number on it to check if they're genuine. If you're really unsure then look up the number in the phone book as sometimes they'll have a mate by a phone waiting to tell you that they are bona fida Sometimes they think they're knocking on the door of an old dear, or maybe they have been through your rubbish & picked out a bill. edge Posted November 30, 2007 Share Posted November 30, 2007 I never really get asked for id but when i have been i have normally left it in the van or at home and say this to them but their reply is " oh we have to ask as its policy" and let me in I can see how easy it would be to act as one of these wonkers.
