MaRkYbOy72
If you decatted an N/A (1st or 2nd pipe) would it make the exhaust even louder? WHat's the easiest way to release some power here but not make the car sound overly loud? Which Cat is best to be removed and replaced? Homer
The NA's are much louder without the cats. You could release a litle more power by decatting but fitting a quieter cat back exhaust. The best cat to remove is the first one.
MaRkYbOy72
thank you, can you buy a muffler or silencer to help instead of changing the cat back exhaust ... expensive ...:blink
Homer
You can, but it'd need to be fitted somewhere, which means custom exhaust. What system do you have in place now?
MaRkYbOy72
it has a 4" custom exhaust... not sure what make etc
Nic
it has a 4" custom exhaust... not sure what make etc With a 4" exhaust, it'll be LOUD with a capital L, if you remove the cats. Either swap the exhaust for something a bit quieter or get a second silencer custom fitted on the mid pipe. Another option to release a few horse, would be to fit a tubular manifold, these replace the stock manifolds AND the first cat. http://img98.imageshack.us/img98/8473/p1030161sa4.jpg http://img89.imageshack.us/img89/1831/p1030162uk1.jpg
Guest mk47
The first cat on NA's is a b*stard to remove done 2 now and bolts are very fragile so tend to sheer off best idea is to wd40 them a good 2-3 days before you plan to remove to ease the job up a bit
