supra_surj
Hi guys got a problem when number 2 tubbie comes online. The first spools up nicely, at 4k revs the 2nd turbo comes online. Now usually this will keep going to redline but for the past 2 weeks it stops at 5k. The car starts shaking and juddering and doesnt go past 5k. Would anyone know what this means or what i could check? Im quite worried about this.
Homer
I've seen a few people mention this problem before but can't recall the cause Is it happening in any gear or just on hard motorway runs?
supra_surj
Mainly on motorways. When it kicks down number 2 normally comes online straight away but this doesnt seem to want to go. Dont drive fast on normal roads so only noticed on motorways.
Cass
Having the same drama myself (Among other things) After hours of chatting with the people that can ,I'm concentrating my search with either the sub throttle position sensor or the TC actuator. Still not found the source of the drama yet tho
supra_surj
Ive had my car for 2yrs now with not a problem then suddenly this. Im going to check what i can tomorrow. Are you getting the same fault?
Cass
Yep same thing mate.I ve noticed if i ease of the throttle it boosts, but if the foot is down it judders and shakes and the exhaust splutters and wont rev up high. Sometimes it won't rev at all when static it just idles away.
supra_surj
Thats exactly what im getting. What have you checked so far? Ill do the same checks tomorrow.
Homer
What boost levels and speeds are you guys seeing when this happens? Is it consistent?
Cass
Seems to only be boosting stock 0.7 bar rather than 1.2 bar And only about 4000 rpm, roundabout when the 2nd tubby comes online. Ive checked spark plugs, coil pack, throttle position sensor, all vsv's,egcv, vac hoses. Ive even changed my magic tree but didn't work
supra_surj
Mines only stock but at the same boost as cass. Soon at 2nd comes online between 4-5k it struggles. Cass looks like you know more about this stuff than me. Lol I'll have a look today at a few bits.

hiten55
guys, i had this problem at low speeds, have you checked the error codes? also, i cleaned the gearbox sensor, and replaced the gearbox fluid, that fixed it. might not work but id say its definately worth a try
supra_surj
How do i do that? Lol help! Did that sort your problem?
hiten55
easy, theres a sensor attached to the side of the gearbox, get under the car, its on the right hand side of the gearbox if you look from the front, pull it out, clean it and put it back. changing the oils even easier - get a mechanic to do it - didnt cause me any issues whatsoever it fixed the problem yeah, but my turbo's were working fine, it was when i started moving off that the revs played up. apparently its caused by dirt in the gearbox meaning the sensor gives incorrect reading and the traction control gets confused or something but its a five minute job and could be worth doing regardles of if it fixes it or not.... but definately check the error codes too... Cass
No error codes from me I'll give the sensor a shot as i do have some seepage from the speed selector Gasket thingy.
supra_surj
Yea mate nothing serious, yet anyway. Got all the bits to go bpu but gotta sort this out 1st. I read a few other threads. Gonna reset ecu, go for drive then check error codes.
hiten55
keep us informed mate. worth noting, my gearbox fluid was filty, but my sensor looked quite clean....
supra_surj
Im gonna check my paperwork but im pretty sure i had the gearbox oil changed on last service. Had new plugs put in.was told they are platinum plugs. Are they any good?
Suprasteve
Cass, i assume you are already BPU ? i know you said your spark plugs are ok but what type are you using ? I had this very same problem when i first changed to BPU, you may not have had the problem to start with but as the weathers got colder this affects the way your car is running and hence only just started getting this problem. i checked my sparks but like yours they seemed in good condition but thought i'd change them anyway which solved the problem straight away. I strongly suggest getting some new spark plugs, try IK24 Irdium sparks.
Cass
Yep IK24 Irdium sparks fitted this end . Still using the SMIC so not full bpu .
supra_surj
The SMIC would cause that problem would?
