MrHanky
Just got a call today from my credit card company to say that I am over my balance. I pretty much knew straight away that something was iffy as I had not used for about a month and knew it only had a few hundred pounds left on it. Theres about £500 worth of transactions to various internet based telecoms sites (im gussing someone has been buying mobile phones). Then a few failed transactions to slender world (trying to tell me something). Cheeky buggers even kindly donated £1 to comic relief or something. At least it is all covered. MrHanky
Not good, you should get your money back though, I did. Yer, the fraud guy just said don't worry about it and that they would amend my balance accordingly. Where do you stand if this kind of thing happens with your debit card? Does the bank / building society cover you or is it just tough luck?? Mark

Credit card is different, I always use a CC for online stuff, especially since this happened to me!! I think I will be doing the same from now on. I just never expected it to happen to me. I rip up most of my receipts and bills etc into small pieces and get very wary of anyone calling me saying that they are from my credit card company etc. When the lady called earlier to ask me details to confirm who I am etc, I called them back via the number on the back of the card just so there was no chance of me being 'had' over the phone. Mark This happened to my cousin with her debit card, she was covered but as they had cleared out her account she had to struggle through and get an overdraft until they managed to get the money back to her. At least with it being your credit card they can sort it out and you won't have to find the money initially. Think I'll be using my credit card too from now on. jefferson
i work for a bank and if you use debit card you do get money back but can take anywhere upto 28 days - and you have to sign a disclaimer to say you will prosecute whoever it is
Sheefa
Glad it's sorted Mark. I had a similar experience with Abbey Credit Card when someone used it to purchase over 10 pairs of Nike Trainers IIRC via a shop in Turkey. No idea how my card got all the way over there................ All covered luckily.
johnnyknox
Dude, what the hell! Are you sure you haven't been sleep spending? It's weird ya know....a load of the lads in my department have been subject to this too - Chan, Darren and Chris! I have heard it could be the garage near where we work..they take your card and clone it when you pay...prolly bullshit but that's the theory at present. You used that garage lately? Think I'll be using my credit card too from now on. Not necessarily. It usually takes them a little while to agree that it is fraud - with mine, they decided that the day after my payment was due - so they did take the full amount.
