Feakins
I think paypal can be great, feel for your situation now though. I brought something once and it randomly did an e-cheque and the guy thought I wasn't going to pay. After that I edited the funding methods, one thing that fooled me was if you want to pay with a debit card you have to select "Credit card" as payment method, because when they say credit card they just mean a card transaction. ivan
I much prefer to use internet banking rather than Paypal these days. It's a lot quicker now too. But for some reason, it takes longer to transfer money from one Barclays account to another. They even warn you it will take longer when using the online transfer system. marbleapple
For those who hate paypal why not try the website: http://www.paypalsucks.com/ - lots of scary stories there. eCheques should be handled with care. Paypal sends you an email to let you know that it has arrived but holds the funds until it has cleared. The temptation is to send the item off once the echequer has arrived, however you should always be aware that like normal cheques, they can bounce. I sell old toys on eBay. A man tried to pay me for a £350 1960's tractor model via echeque. I wisely kept the model until the echeque was meant to clear... which surprise surprise it did not! As for Paypal generally, on the whole I like it. I once sent £9000 in one go to a bloke in America and within about 30 seconds I had a phone call from paypal checking whether the payment was from me or not. Guest craig-mkiv
I had problem's with paypal sending e-cheque's from my account for good's i had purchased , so i sent them an e-mail here is there reply !! i did what they said and it worked !! ( my message to them is at the bottom ) Dear Craig *****, Thanks for contacting PayPal. My name is Jon Anthony and I appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your questions. Mr. *****, first and foremost, I truly apologise for any inconvenience and for any confusion this issue may have caused you. Please excuse the delay in our reply; we are dealing with an unusually large number of email enquiries at the moment. Rest assured that we care about your business and we are working as hard as possible to address all of your concerns promptly. We greatly appreciate your patience regarding this matter. I understand that you are enquiring about the eCheque payment. I sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this matter might have brought you. Upon reviewing your account, I can confirm that the reason why your payments are being sent through as eCheques is because you do not have an active card registered to your PayPal account at the time you initiated the transactions. You need to add a card to your PayPal account so that you can send payments instantly because it is not possible for you to send payments instantly without an active card in your account. Once you have added a card to your PayPal account, rest assured that all of your future payments will be sent instantly to your seller's account. An eCheque is not backed up with a debit or credit card and usually takes up to nine working days to complete. Although your bank account will be debited when you initiate the eCheque, the funds still have to go through the BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing Services) and then through our system. This whole process usually takes up to nine working days to complete. Once the funds have been transferred, the status of the transaction will automatically change to 'Cleared' and the funds will be placed in the recipient's account. I hope I was able to address your concern. Should you have further enquiries regarding this matter, please feel free to contact us again and we'll be happy to assist you further. It is my pleasure to assist you. Thank you for choosing PayPal. Sincerely, Jon Anthony PayPal European Services PayPal, an eBay Company Copyright © 1999-2007 PayPal. All rights reserved. Supragal
I thought the idea of paypal over bank transfer was that it was more secure. I dunno. I'm going to close my account if I ever get access to it again and leave it be. Once bitten and all that...
