Changing from 18" to 19" wheels- bad idea?

I'll still maintain that people with 19's will having an accelerated wear on the suspension compared to 17/18's as well as slightly worse cornering ability.

I've not noticed the differance in the cornering ability, but your more than likely right about the suspension wear. :)

Would a full geo set up and laser alignment help with suspension wear ?.

Hi Folks

I have the chance to buy some 19" wheels to replace my 18s.

It handles really well and has a very decent ride quality on the current wheels... what I want to know is if this is likely to be screwed up with 19s?

Anybody regretting going to that size?

Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Rory

"Do it man" I got 19's on my baby and "No Plobelem" they look way, way better than 18's and if you get yourself a set of adjustable shocks you will be able to set them up just perfect

"19's rule"

Oh really, do you understand the geometry of a car and how to adjust accordingly?

If you do then fair play but i doubt most other people on this forum would be able to.

That's why they have wheel shops that sale wheels, and shocks; You buy the wheels and shocks from the same guy who in turn employs an expert at putting on wheels setting up the shocks and "Bobs your uncle" dive out the shop with nice new 19's set up perfectly:):)

And if you are not happy with the set up take them back until they get it right "No Plobelem"

That doesn't account for the full geometric balance of the car though does it?

Sounds like you would need to go to an emergency room at the local hospital for one of those::innocent:

All said and done we are talking about a car that is at least 10 years old; most of them have had shit loads of modifications done to them, did everyone get a “complete geometric balance” done on there car every time they added something to there car or gained a few extra pounds while on holiday “I don’t f*****g think so”:p:p

Its a wee bit like your wife, the older they get the more "make up" they use, and most of them “chop and add bits on” to make there selfs look good:d:D

We all bought a Supra because it's a great looking fast car; so get off my back and let the guy buy some nice new 19's and make his OLD car look nice:):)

I've used Weds 18's (slightly less weight than stock) and Axis Hiro 19's. I find it easier to control the car when the back fish tails with the 19's. I'm very happy with 19's.

My advice - go for 19's if you can get a quality set/good brand with good tyres and then have your geometry setup

Chill out, i said i run 19's and i am just telling him that there catagoricaly is a compromise when running 19" wheels on a supra.

I've gone from 17" to 19" and the car looks LOADS better, the feel of the car changes ie tramlining on uneven surfaces (most british road then) but as all the pro 19" guys say they look better and I think thats why 99.9% of owners fit 19's.

It was the right move for me;) and I bet the car would become more saleable(if thats a word) when you come to sell (to most people)

Check out my garage:d

I went from 17" Khans to 19" Vortex Rs and to be totally honest the ride comfort didn't seem to change all that much. Not that i noticed anyway.

Handling is a lot better too, yes you get the odd bit of tramlining but who doesn't. Plus I don't get any more steering wheel shake over 100 leptons :)
