GeordieSteve
The motors playing funny buggers. I've just added a Veilside exhaust (Cat back) and an Apexi air filter. Most of the time it's fine, no problems at all but now and again when you boot it, it seems to die off a bit. All the power drops for a second or two then it'll go again. Anyone have a clue what this could be? I have no FCD but will the minor mods I've got effect the boost enough to need one? Cheers! Steve
Ian C
Do you mean power falls off while you are accelerating or it stalls when you are idling or what? -Ian
mr keef
Dont think its the boost or fuel cut mate, power doesnt just die off it just cuts off if ya know wha i mean. And ya car looked well on saterday mate
GeordieSteve
When I give it a bit stick it's as if the petrol has run out then it goes again. Maybe a fueling problem? lol Keef you were going a bit yourself before you hit that second round about lol

Keith C
Maybe it could be a dodgy speed delimiter conversion. I was told that if the ECU doesn't know what speed the car is doing it doesn't always do the sequential operation properly, meaning it goes twin far earlier than it should. OR Maybe it's a dodgy VSV not switching the car back from twin to single when it should. Does it tend to do it immediately it after you've been above 4000 rpm but the next time you get on the throttle you're back below 4000?
GeordieSteve
To be honest the bloke at the garage I bought the car off recons I've done 11000 miles in 5 month which I KNOW is bollocks
GeordieSteve
Keith, It's done this from standing (when going at it hard the revs will drop to zero then pick back up) and from about 4000 revs. Doesn't do it all the time but it's done it a bit lately. No boost gauge (yet... it's on it's way) to see whats going on either
Guest f3nr15
Had a similar problem with my old 200SX, having the injectors cleaned seemed to fix it...

Terminator
Try pulling the EFI fuses to reset the ECU??
terribleturner
Mine is doing that, but it's coz i need a fcd (which i have but am a little scared to do myself). I can be powering it down the road and suddenly the engine just sort of drops for about a second then pics up again. If i still have my foot planted then it'll build up speed like before but drop again.

GeordieSteve
Car has done about 40,000 miles (because I'm not listening to the crap the garage is telling me!). Gonna re-set the ECU, get me a new fuel pmp, plugs and fcd. With some luck SOMETHING out of that lot will sort it
