JustGav
Try hold, shift-ctrl-num luck or shift-ctrl-capslock or shift-ctrl-scrollock My keyboard used to do it on the odd occasion, never did work out why...

JustGav
I have no idea why that combination works, but it certainly does help.... I have no idea why though (anybody got a clue?)
Branners
I also found that if you hit the shift key 4 or 5 times it turnes off the shift lock. I dont know how it gets stuck on or why it turns off with different key strokes but that seems to work. A reboot would also have fixed it. Pixelfill
not sure what i@ve done but if i use the scroll on my mouse it goes back and forward between web pages How did you manage to get the Apostrophe in the highlighted "i've" ? Peculiar. I've found sometimes that a KVM switch causes the modifiers to be stuck on. Toggling Ctrl Shift or Alt a number of times usually fixes it. or occasionally scroll lock. I suspect the combinations above just toggle all the modifiers a number of times so work by default Mike
carl0s
Windows (or is it the hardware?) seems on occasion to get confused as to the shift-keys (any of them - alt, ctrl, or shift) state. Tapping each of them once or twice always sorts it. Weird. It seems to be a long-standing but infrequent problem.
Henk
Could it be you clicked SHIFT >5 times and turned on Accessibility Features for those people with disabilities? You can check what is turned on by going to: START -> CONTROL PANEL -> ACCESSIBILITY OPTIONS
