adi2009
Recently I was getting my 2JZGE engine removed in order to install thicker headgaskets and in the process though that I would get the heads ported. However, the guys that disassembled the head seem to have messed up and I am now left with 22 bent valves. What can be done, do I need to get all new valves or can i get used valves from someone? Bob
If they damaged your head, it's up to them to put it right. And if they're damaging valves like that, they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an engine bay.
Guest DaveH
If they made a mistake they should buy you new valves (altho used ones would work fine also). DaveH
Ian C
If they damaged your head, it's up to them to put it right. And if they're damaging valves like that, they shouldn't be allowed anywhere near an engine bay. Those two statements are mutually exclusive I would get them to pay for someone else (eg Chris Wilson) to fix, including the postage. I've no idea if it's possible to fix, there is probably damage to the head itself now and you've got to factor in any machine work they did being completely rubbish. In which case, new cylinder head + valvetrain please, or it's county court time. -Ian
SimonB
How the hell do you manage to bend 22 valves all at once! What a bunch of muppets!
Chris Wilson
How do you bend 22 valves DISASSEMBLING a head? Quite a feat, IMO
Bob
Maybe they took it apart with a hammer and chisel?
geoffvalenti
How do you bend 22 valves DISASSEMBLING a head? Quite a feat, IMO Well at least someone was doing something this time. In the last thread about bent valves, they apparently bent themselves overnight
adi2009
So would it be ok if I install a set of used valves from another engine? if so, would I need to change the valve guides?
