Chiefgroover
Does anyone know are these pruely cosmetic, or do they actually stiffen the shell to a marked degree that merits purchase?
Scooter
aren't these mainly for aerotops? (where i think from memory of old postings that they do work well)
Max Headroom
Anything that helps stiffen a floppy aerotop must be good, although on a full bodied Supe the is less "flex" in the body so no much of a need I would say
bondango
Fundementally will work on either body but as the Aero needs all the help it can get, they make their home in more of them. Can also be used as a Harness bar too Ernie as I think the Do-luck sits above the carpet - so saves running a Harness bar in the car aswell. Nic
Does anyone know are these pruely cosmetic, or do they actually stiffen the shell to a marked degree that merits purchase? Ernie, Carbing make these for Do-Luck (they sell the exact same model under their own brand). I supplied this one to an aerotop owner who reported a marked reduction in chassis flex, I've never tested one personally though, so not sure how much effect it would have on a hardtop. Carbing also do 4 and 5 point rear roll cages. http://img406.imageshack.us/img406/3180/cimg0002bs2.jpg http://img242.imageshack.us/img242/6366/cimg0005ah4.jpg
Ian C
Does anyone know are these pruely cosmetic, or do they actually stiffen the shell to a marked degree that merits purchase? I'd say no. They are bolt-in, so there is a flex point there, the big hoopy bit is another couple of flex points, and it's not a diagonal so what floorpan flex precisely is it supposed to be stopping? I know one aerotop owner was very vociferous that it improved matters no end but then some people think a front strut brace stiffens up an aerotop It might make *some* weeny difference, but the question is "to a marked degree that merits purchase" so my vote is a "no". -Ian
T2 MSW
Having tested one of these on my own aerotop i can say they do make a big difference but only with the top off. With the top on it makes hardly any noticanle difference. The flex on the rear end was noticable even over small bumps in the road, once fitted it was greatly reduced. It will not iradicate the flex though large bumps still effect the back of the car. In my opinion anyone who has tried these on an areotop and said it makes sod all difference is because they did not have it ajusted correctly. Unfortunatly I had to send mine back to the supplier due to an issue in the mount bracket but im awaiting my replacement from Carbing.

Soonto_HAS_soop
Can also be used as a Harness bar too Ernie as I think the Do-luck sits above the carpet - so saves running a Harness bar in the car aswell. Harnesses should be run at an angle of 45 degrees from the back of the seat and not be connected directly down from the back. The harness bar is also produced to do just that and comes with struts to ensure that it does not move. Due to this, I would expect the harness bar to actually provide more rigidity improvements than the do-luck.
