JustGav
It has been confirmed in the media that Virgin is to take over the NTL/Telewest merged group. It will be renamed as Virgin Media. I've had this confirmed by two sources now. One being the BBC and the other being a employee working at NTL. The bit of really interesting news is that they are currently trialing 50mb cable lines in the Kent area, and they are planning on rolling it further. Virgin Media will be one of the first to offer a quad-service, ie Mobile, Television, Internet and Landline. Wonder if they plan on integrating the things properly like it should be. Imagine that, a phone line that diverts to your mobile when you aren't at home without costing you a silly fortune. Or internet where you can access your telebox and program it (TivoWeb style). All very interesting, apparently Mr Branson has more than an 11% share in the new company...
garetheves
Hmm interesting ive got Telewest phone and broadband and must admit was thinking of switching to Sky, may wait a while now and see what happens with this.
JustGav
NTL are offering a sky+ style box called TVDrive, which telewest used to offer, they are busy packaging it up ready for release, should be in the next month or so apparently... Only reason I got rid of sky+? because I wanted tivo back, I happen to like my tivo and its functionality.
Dragonlady
I can only hope that their service improves as we moved from NTL because they were really rubbish. I lost count of the number of times our phone was disconnected by NTL only to find that there had been a computer error - and yes actaully our account wasn't in arrears. When you run your own business its realy pants

psymon
I have TV drive , since january after converting from sky plus. It is far better, you can record a third channel as opposed to the 2 on sky plus. It also has extra features. IMO better. and cheaper a month than SKY
JustGav
Well, I'm using my Tivo unit, and I don't really want to part with it, as I happen to really like the tivo functionality which TBH kicks the shit out of sky+ when it comes to features. Pete
Totally the other way around. NTL/Telewest have bought Virgin Mobile. http://www.ntl.com/home/ntlvirginmobile/ I'm confused as that was in July?
Pete
Ah - It's just a rebrand excersize. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11/08/ntl_goes_virgin_50mb/ I knew that they were going to do this and keep Telewest for business brand, but I assumed NTL would be the home brand - I guess not as the NTL brand name is dishwater. More interesting is talks with ITV - http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/11/10/ntl_itv_merger/

When you run your own business its realy pants We had the same problems, loads and loads of times. But I deal with BT on a daily basis at work and they too are crap, and at home giving Talktalk a try and although so far reliable, their customer service too is rubbish and in bangalore or somewhere. Took six calls and some emails to get them to correct an error on my address and they still manged to send the modem out to the wrong address!
