JUN Rods?

Yes - I will be doing a 1JZ build in the new year - so Nic I will be in touch :)

Hi Term, hows your project going?

It is surprising they are heavier than the Carillos (Greddy) rods. What I would like to know is are the stronger (ie is it worth the extra weight?).

I take it nobody here has used JUN rods or pistons before?

Cheers

That'll be me!.

One thing I can tell you is a set might be 12-1400 pounds but to get one more matched costs 700 on its own. :wtf:

I had a small set back in may this year when my flex plate bolts came undone setting in motion a wobble on the crank (8000rpm's + on the dyno) with race fuel. I had a rod bolt stretch and undo:( but the rod itself held together with one bolt on the bottom bracket! So fairly tough.

I was going to use the same one again but on close inspection the lower bracket had been buckeled a very small amount. I said 'ok just get me another to be safe' not knowing it would be 700 pounds for one . Based on that alone I wouldn't use jun again

Ouch - cheers for the info and the heads up Robbie! I will have to investigate the replacement costs on the Greddy ones too and see how much that influences my choice.

My fear with such parts is exactly what you have been through - not the buying in the first place; but the risk of buying again! I think if I broke a built engine I would cry.
