Muffleman
Anyone have any idea how much work it would be to have my vinyls painted on ? Including the black shadow. And is it possible to get white car paint that is reflective ? My white vinyls are reflective, and it looks very cool in dark light

Muffleman
whats wrong with vinyl Doesn't stay perfect for ever, and I'm a fussy bugger. I've got the odd stone chip etc, which you get on all cars but it damages the vinyl, and it's not so easy to repair.

rik
To do that would be very expensive. To be done properly would involve wet flating the whole car, masking and painting the graphics, airbrushing the shadows and laquer/polish the whole car. If you wanted there to be no lump where the edge of the graphics were painted, the laquer would also have to be flatted and reaplied until they were at the same level. (time consuming, lots of materials) And don't forget, this is assuming that your base red is good enough to paint on once the vinyls are removed. This would however, be Ultra Cool and i strongly advise you to go ahead with it. There are quicker methods to give the same visual effect, but they're shit and wont last. To give you an idea, this job on this Harley tank is the same process, and cost the customer about £
Muffleman
Thanks Rik, I'm seriously thinking about it. Anyone know if you can get white reflective paint ?
Muffleman
And don't forget, this is assuming that your base red is good enough to paint on once the vinyls are removed. Oh yeah, total respray less than 4 years ago in a non-supra red, and only really used as a demo\show car after that so SHOULD be okay.
psymon
Maybe a cheaper option, I have seen vinyls laquered over to protect them when they were first applied. This takes the stone chips etc instead of the vinyls... Just a thought, and much cheaper option
