it was in billericay in essex, Im in Ilford.

There was a nail in the rear right tyre, and it does seem the noise came from there, i was just a bit weary cos it could be costly to fix!

The Gearbox did have an overhaul not many miles ago, and the engine rebuild about 2 years ago. There are a few service stamps missing only had 2 services from 2004-2006. But the seller says he's kept the oil topped up.

The noise from the nail in the tyre is probably what it was. Happened to me last week(f**k). Didn,t go away till i wore the top of the nail off??:p then got it fixed later in the week.

It sounded like there was a sticky peice of paper on the tyre flapping.:D

hi mate,

you'd wanna hear the supra started from cold so ideally tell the seller to leave it unstarted overnight and then start it when you see it... check for oil leaks around/under the engine.... and smoke from cold start..

My current Supra UK has done 179,000 Miles and according to previous (and only) owner it has NEVER needed topping up oil in between services..

Gearbox sounds normal to have a slight crunch as they are clunky to say the least but as already stated decent g/box oil will/should sort that out...

Rash

p.s. My advice would be to drive another manual supra and compare....

Hi

I went and saw a Manual Uk Supra Twin Turbo today, just have a few questions.

When driving off from stand still, theres a slight clicking noise coming from the rear. what could this be? Anything major?

Also the gears seemed to engage fine, but when going into 3 there was a very very faint crunch noise, can hardly be heard but its there. Is the gearbox on the way out?

Any help would be appreciated :)

Hi,

Clicking noise could be various things, bit hard to say without hearing it for ourselves.

Gearbox wise, there should no crunch whatsoever from the gearbox, I've seen 4 Supra 6 speeds now with crunchy 3rd gears, all required new syncros and a few other bits while it was apart. Could be an expensive bill coming if its crunching....

Cheers

Paul

how does mileage affect these cars? if it has over 100k miles with full service history and well looked after, would it be ok?

Should be ok BUT you could also get expensive problems thats why older high milage cars are cheaper!

Turbos blow = £1500 +

Engine Rebuilds = £2000 +

if the car has good history - drives/looks well and the high mileage is reflected in the price then go for it i say.....

after all average miles on a UK supra would be 100k/120k so anything under that is considered low mileage...

Judging by your other posts you have your heart set on a manual which narrows down your search quite a bit. Here's a pic of my high mieage uk car - 1 owner and its done 179k..!!and i'm proud of it :D

Ok

Went and saw another Uk Supra TT today, it was an auto but i absolutly loved it!

Only thing is the red hazard light thing is on, the owner says its becuase of the active spoiler which is disconnected due to the Gready intercooler getting in the way.

Another thing, the car has HKS 264 cams, i know from past experience that cams can make idle a bit lumpy, is this right? The idle sound was lumpy but i was expecting that. Is that fine?

The cars had quite a lot of work done, and its basically ready for a single conversion, all the engine bits have been uprated etc

Heres the spec:

Antera Wheels

F50 Brembos

Stage 3 Turbo Tech hybrids

Greedy 4 row

Uprated fuel pump

Blitz exhuast

HKS 264 cams

JUN gears

H section rods

je pistons

eibach spring

Koni struts

Titan anti roll bars

TRD Strut brace.

Engine prepared by JPS motor sport

Engine has only done 2k miles since rebuild with Je pistons etc. Only other thing is its got service history stamps until about 60k miles, however after that there are lots and lots of reciepts of service/work done after that but just no stamps in the book.

It however doesnt have any after market management or boost controller etc. Will the car be fine without all this?

I really liked this car and would like the thumbs up from you guys before i splash out my hard earned cash!

Its for sale for £9850, Uk, 94 L, 109k miles, but engine rebuild 2k miles ago. Im sure i can get him down on price a little. But does it seem like a good price, i reckon its pretty good especially for the work done to it! The Brembo brakes are just porn, and musta cost a bomb!
