Jim_1979
I have a Silver J spec TT and tbh the paint is looking a little tired on the car. Nothing drastically wrong with it, just looking dull tbh. Anyone got any ideas as to what I could use on it to liven it up again? Ideally the car could do with a respray, but funds are tight at the moment. thanks
Max Headroom
Have you tried polishing it? Try something like a clay bar to get rid of the surface contaminates and a good polish and wax should brighten it up
supra matt
get it moped mate that will bring it back to life ,

Gordon F
get it moped mate that will bring it back to life , Yep - a decent paint shop will run a mop over it for about £20 to £40. Will make all the difference
Ian W
Yep - a decent paint shop will run a mop over it for about £20 to £40. Will make all the difference what is this 'moped' folk talk about?! just a machine polish?
Jim_1979
moped ??? What's that?? I've owned a few cars etc, modded them to death.... but I've never bothered washing/cleaning them! DOH!! So T-Cutting it wouldn't be a good idea?
garetheves
G3 compound and a decent power polisher will bring it up a treat. Tons of info on here.
Homer
So T-Cutting it wouldn't be a good idea? Bad idea! Get it moped professionally, you won't believe the difference; if that doesn't sort it then it'll need a repaint!

Mike M
I fancy buying one of those buffers to do the cars. I don't think they are too expensive and that G3 stuff makes some difference to old tired paint. Its just sore doing it by hand.

SUPRALOOPY
And you have not ever used anything like this before:rolleyes: I suggest you buy an orbital polisher NOT a rotary one.
RobSheffield
I think that moped = mopped And i agree with dave/supraloopy G3 can remove paint so fast on edges that you wouldnt believe it

Mike M
Rotary ones can burn the paint cant they or at least take a layer off before you know it. I've got a nice mark on my front bumper where someone has held one too long next to the headlamp. I looked in halfrauds but had to go to my usual paint supplier guy who gave me two choices of G3, liquid or paste. He reckoned the paste gives a better finish. I bought the liquid anyway 8.99 for 500ml.
SUPRALOOPY
g3 is a cutting compound.. you will need to finish of with a finness it type cream with a softer mop head. and than wax to a nice finish.. see my garage for evidence..LOL
Mike M
Is that comparable with G10 Supraloopy?
SUPRALOOPY
Is that comparable with G10 Supraloopy? I use 3m finness it. Its a very good mask after the initial cut back, the wax is just a protector and for losing the slight swirls you'll get;)
Mike M
Ahh ok, cool. I used G3 on the wing I was painting after flattening then Mequirs 3 stage. Looks good anyway, well good enough for the gfs 100k mile clio. I'll keep that finness stuff in mind when doing the front bumper on the sup. SteveR
The passenger side front wing on my silver Supe has really dull paintwork, it looks likt someone tried out a polishing compound or something on it and it all went horribly wrong (not noticeable until you look closely but then it's obviously not right)... would mopping sort that out? I never realised it was ITRO £40 for a whole car to be mopped, thought it was much more. Think I'll get that done as a Christmas present to my Supe.
