CJ
Why is it that after driving with AC on you get a leak (looks like water) from the AC system. It has done it with every type of car I have owned.
jamesmark
It frost's up and then it melts and drips off. I think as it gets so cold that the moisture freezes
stuohy
Cos it removes it from the air, and has to put it somewhere...

Kranz
Cos its better than your feet getting wet (which is what would happen if the evaporator drain got blocked)

Rob
Why then did I get a huge cloud of vapour erupt into the cabin as I bombed along the A1 during that heatwave we had last month?
edd_t
that explains a lot! for ages ive been looking for a leak under my GF's Golf! she users the AC all the time, so that must be whats causing the water.
Kranz
Why then did I get a huge cloud of vapour erupt into the cabin as I bombed along the A1 during that heatwave we had last month? Cos when you have the air con switched on & its working it collects moisture on the evaporator, which cools the air that's going past it into the cabin. At full throttle it will switch off to allow more power (like we haven't got enough) to go to the wheels. When it switches off, the evaporator warms up & all that lovely moisture gets picked up and blown out of the vents onto the windscreen. That's why when you turn the air con off the air out of the vents gets smelly and damp.

Rob
I may have passed some gas when it happened. I thought the engine had let go, it was only the complete lack of smell that stopped my panic.
