Clutch recommendation

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a BPU TT and I'll need to replace the clutch soon. I sometimes do aggressive/hard launches.

I would like the Clutch to feel as close as stock as possible but can take a bit more punishment than stock.

I have done some research and interested in Chris Wilson’s uprated stock clutch and one of the RPS jobbies - but there are so many RPS's!

What specific clutch would you recommend for my needs?

I will be going for a new OEM Flywheel too.

Are new Flywheel bolts always needed? I think Chris's Clutch comes with Release and Spigot Bearings? If I go for RPS, Shall I buy OEM Spigot and release bearings. Anything else needed?

Thanks,

Ro

I don't have much experience with clutches but gave the following guidelines to Terry S for a recommendation:

- Close to stock engagement

- Close to stock pressure

- Reasonably priced

- Work with stock flywheel

He came back and provided a Southbend Kevlar clutch and pressure plate. It really does drive like a stock car, though very slightly firmer engagement and very slightly heavier pedal. I've done quick a few burnouts (pod) and hard launches and its been complete unfazed so far (plus 10k road miles).

The only problem I had was with the bite point, only Phoenix managed to set it up correctly (Slowdog and others f*cked it up a treat)

Its suitable up to 450ib/ft so should be okay up to T67 single.

PS: You're welcome to take it for a drive if you want to try it out
