Hope OK to post, its hard not to make this and advert due to its nature but its news I think you guys may be interested in, delete this if you need to mods :) , as posted on the GTR Register:

Hi all.

We've finally re-named our new drag GTR - ' FUUJIN '

Here are some most recent pictures of the near-complete car, still a few more things to do, pictured here at Hausers, where it was having some fabrication work completed prior to the final work at Sumo.

The front of the car, still awaiting the final modifications prior to painting and so-on :

The Rear, looking complete but missing a few bits and bobs :

And what the car looked like in 2001 for those who knew it before I took it off the road in its 500bhp state and Kleerfreight livery as ' Rolling Thunder' :

The cars first outing will be in Athens at the Athens Tuning Show next month where it will be displayed for the first time ever along with our Drift 350Z. It will be on static display only, when it returns to the UK, it will have its final work carried out as well as its tuning etc.

The old thread about the cars build up to date is here:

Old Build Up Info

As soon as it is ready and prior to the Athens show, I will post up some pictures as it should be visually finished.

Cant believe after all this time, it finally looks like a car again.

Cheers

Andy

I see you're going to MIRA. I've been working in wind tunnel's for the last 8 years. (Including the worlds most technilogically advanced tunnel which I worked with and designed components for for 3 years) MIRA's a good tunnel, but you're going to need a lot more than 15 minutes lol. Set up time alone will take you up to a day. 1 test should only take 15 minutes agreed but there's a lot more to it than just doing the 1 test.

If you're seriously thinking of taking the car to MIRA there's *a lot* of preparation work needed beforehand.

I'm going to be using a customer tunnel in the near future. We've got 3 guys who, by the time we go, will have been working continuously on getting the preparation work done for for 3 months each (doing 50-60 hours each week!) Not saying that it will take you that long, but there's a lot of work that will need doing. Not least how are you going to mount the car and how are you intending on measuring loads? You're going to need drag and lift loadcells at the very least, and if you want to do it properly yaw, roll, pitching moment, and yaw moment. I've recently got quotes for a 6 component loasdcell to measure these loads, which came in at a little under £25K! A simple two component loadcell is going to pitch in around £5K. (Although you could potentially make your own for about a grand)

Also who's going to be doing the data analysis for you? If you're struggling I know a few aerodynamicists who might be willing to do the data analysis for you, but I would expect to pay them between £75 and £100/hour.

Believe me tunnel testing is expensive. Ridiculously so if your testing full size, and whilst doing 1 test will enable you to put a sticker on the car to say you've done it, it would be a bit like saying you've put your engine on a engine dyno, but it only did 1 rev.

Ta for the replies.

Pink : It worked well on the Z and has grown on me so I thought we should run with again.

Tunnel : My comment about 15 minutes was based on a joke, ie, hopefully we only need 15 minutes, refering to cost. I know it is nowhere near that easy. Thanks for the insight though, the tunnel test would be to find out how far away from 'good' we are. Whilst costly, if it is the difference between beating HKS or not, it is an investment we have to consider although god knows where the money will come from to pay for it :D

Anyone want to buy my R34, its for sale! :D :D
