TRD3000GT
I have just got hold of one of these. Need to know how to install it? Any ideas? Where do I plumb the lines in to ? Also what exactly does it do, and how do I use it? Typical, It looked cool but now I have it dont know what to do with it?
Digsy
Chris, I would imagine that the two lines at the top connect from your camcover and to your intake system (i.e. inline with either the WOT or part throttle breather pipes). There should be a dirty great big oil drain from the bottom if its anything like the catch cans I'm used to. This will go to the oil pan. Just out of interest, do you suspect you actually have an oil carry-over problem?
michael
I've always fancied one of those myself, both bling and functional As I see it you can position it anywhere you like - all you need to do is remove the pipe that currently vents back into the engine and put the catch can inline instead - then as the air and oil droplets / vapours attempt to go back into the system they oil drops into the can leaving nice clean air to go back in. Every once in a while you take it off, empty the oil under a neighbours car and put it back in again.
TRD3000GT
Sounds cool, At the moment I dont have any oil problems but Im planning on some Mods that will benefit from these trick bits I have ordered. I just need to know where to hook up the pipes to ? Any pics people. Im taking the car to a frind of mine with a ramp and the two of us are gonna fit the unit :-) But I still dont know where to hook up the lines to. Nick
There's quite a lot of info on Supraforums about catch tanks, just need a bit of time to read through it all and ignore the crap...

You've gotta be joking! You mean it actually holds the oil in there and doesn't let it drain back into the sump? How much does it hold???

Only a few of the aftermarket ones I've seen have the necessary pipework to drain back into the sump - the majority just collect the oil and require emptying - the Greddy is one of the few that offers a sight glass so you can check the level. I guess such a small amount of oil over a long period of time won't cause the engine to starve of lubrication, if it was collecting litres of the stuff I can understand it being an issue though
Digsy
OK, just to continue my role as devil's advocate here... If you are only pulling over a small amount of oil over a long time then there's no reason to fit a catch can - the stock closed breather system should easily be able to cope. If you are pulling enough oil over to warrant a catch can, surely it should really be the type that allows it to drain back into the pan?

Sharpie
This might be of use. http://www.supraforums.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=172203&highlight=oil+catch+can and http://cjsupra.kendra.com/PCV-Can.html The second one has the install instructions. Wez
The 15mm greddy one was recommended to me by Power House Racing as they no longer stock there own item.
Wez
The Mocal units are not bad either and also come in two sizes and look alot easier to mount :- http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/catalogue/product_detail.asp?PCODE=MOCCT3&GRP=RP063&PGRP=R006&CLS=ROAD&code=MOCCT2&from=search
